Attain Sports owns and manages four baseball teams: the Baltimore Orioles Double-A affiliate Chesapeake Baysox, the Baltimore Orioles High-A affiliate Frederick Keys, the MLB Draft League Aberdeen IronBirds, and the Atlantic League Professional Baseball Club Spire City Ghost Hounds. Additionally, Attain Sports is an owner of the United Soccer League (USL) Championship Club Loudoun United FC.

 

The Chesapeake Baysox (Double-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles) are seeking a motivated and experienced sales leader to serve as Director, Ticket Sales. This position is responsible for leading the Baysox ticket sales department and driving revenue across season tickets, group sales, hospitality, and other ticket products.

The Director, Ticket Sales will oversee the day-to-day performance of the ticket sales team, establish a consistent and accountable sales culture, develop sales representatives, and ensure the department is positioned to achieve its annual revenue goals.

This role requires a hands-on leader who can coach and develop sales representatives, establish clear expectations, monitor performance, identify new revenue opportunities, and work collaboratively across the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Sales Leadership and Revenue Performance

  • Lead the Chesapeake Baysox ticket sales department with responsibility for achieving annual ticket sales revenue goals.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies across season tickets, group sales, hospitality, premium areas, and other ticket products.
  • Establish individual and departmental sales goals that align with the organization's annual budget and revenue objectives.
  • Monitor sales activity and revenue performance throughout the year and adjust strategies as necessary to remain on pace toward goals.
  • Identify new opportunities to grow ticket revenue, attendance, and the Baysox customer base.
  • Maintain an active presence in the sales process and assist representatives with larger or more complex opportunities when appropriate.
  • Support the development and execution of renewal, retention, and new business campaigns.
  • Work closely with leadership to evaluate pricing, inventory, ticket products, and sales opportunities.

Staff Management and Development

  • Manage, coach, and develop the Baysox ticket sales staff.
  • Establish clear expectations for sales activity, prospecting, follow-up, pipeline management, and revenue production.
  • Conduct regular individual meetings with sales representatives to review performance, pipelines, opportunities, and professional development.
  • Lead regular ticket sales meetings focused on performance, strategy, training, and accountability.
  • Develop and implement an ongoing sales training program covering prospecting, cold calling, needs analysis, presentations, objection handling, closing, referrals, and account management.
  • Provide consistent coaching and feedback to help sales representatives improve their skills and advance professionally.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training new ticket sales employees.
  • Create a positive, competitive, and accountable sales environment focused on continuous improvement and team success.

Sales Activity and Pipeline Management

  • Establish and monitor minimum expectations for outbound calls, emails, appointments, meetings, and other sales activity.
  • Ensure sales representatives maintain accurate and current pipelines and customer records.
  • Review individual pipelines regularly to identify opportunities, challenges, and appropriate next steps.
  • Develop prospecting strategies and lead-generation initiatives to create new business opportunities.
  • Ensure consistent follow-up with prospects and customers throughout the sales process.
  • Utilize ticketing and CRM systems to track activity, measure performance, and improve sales effectiveness.

Group Sales and Community Development

  • Develop strategies to grow group ticket sales among businesses, schools, youth sports organizations, nonprofits, community organizations, churches, and other potential customers.
  • Identify opportunities to develop new theme nights, group programs, and ticket initiatives that generate incremental revenue and attendance.
  • Build relationships throughout Prince George's County and the surrounding region to expand the Baysox customer base.
  • Work with the marketing and promotions teams to support ticket sales campaigns and lead-generation initiatives.

Reporting and Forecasting

  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts and provide regular updates on departmental performance.
  • Track revenue, activity, pipeline development, renewals, and other key performance indicators.
  • Provide leadership with regular reporting on progress toward departmental and individual goals.
  • Identify performance trends and develop action plans when the department or individual representatives are behind pace.
  • Ensure accurate utilization of ticketing, CRM, and reporting systems throughout the department.

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Work closely with Marketing, Corporate Partnerships, Box Office, Operations, and other departments to support organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on campaigns designed to generate leads, increase attendance, and support ticket sales initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the Box Office and Ticket Operations teams to ensure a positive purchasing and customer service experience.
  • Represent the ticket sales department in organizational meetings and planning discussions.
  • Support organizational initiatives, games, events, and other activities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in ticket sales, sports sales, hospitality sales, or a related revenue-generating position.
  • Previous sales management or leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and motivate sales professionals.
  • Strong understanding of prospecting, pipeline management, relationship selling, and sales strategy.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to establish expectations and hold team members accountable while maintaining a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Experience working with CRM, ticketing, and sales reporting systems preferred.
  • Ability to analyze sales performance and use data to make informed decisions.
  • Willingness and ability to work games, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as required.

The individual base salary for this position is unique to each candidate and will be commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for commission upon achieving set metrics.

Compensation Range

$50,000 - $60,000 USD
