We are seeking an experienced Land Agent to support wind and solar land acquisition efforts across the state of Michigan. This role involves extensive travel, direct engagement with landowners, and execution of agreements critical to the success of renewable energy projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in land acquisition and a clear understanding of the industry’s legal and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Travel extensively (90%+) across Michigan to support project development, with the ability to remain on location for multiple weeks as needed.
  • Establish and maintain strong, professional relationships with landowners, ensuring transparent and informed communication throughout the acquisition process.
  • Negotiate and execute options, leases, and easement agreements with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Independently develop and implement land acquisition and right-of-way strategies.
  • Provide timely updates to the Land Solutions Manager regarding project progress, landowner interactions, and agreement status.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of project goals, industry practices, and relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Utilize internal platforms and tools to manage project data and maintain clear records.
  • Conduct parcel research, confirm ownership, and address landowner concerns professionally and effectively.
  • Ensure that all executed agreements are complete, compliant, and properly documented.
  • Maintain consistent and proactive communication with the Atwell team and project stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Active LLC required for 1099 contractor eligibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of land acquisition experience, preferably within the renewable energy sector or related industries (e.g., oil & gas, telecommunications, commercial/residential development).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and resolve issues effectively.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work in remote or rural areas as required by the project.

Additional Information:

  • This is a 1099 independent contractor position and is not eligible for employee benefits.
  • Travel expenses are reimbursed in accordance with company policy.
  • While listed under Southfield, MI, this role supports projects located statewide across Michigan.
