POSITION SUMMARY:
The FP&A Analyst is part of the team responsible for designing and implementing analysis and forecasts that are used for investor engagement, long term financial planning, operational efficiency, liquidity, and return projections of Audax Private Debt, its affiliates, and its principals. The candidate will assist the company’s principals in making management decisions by working with the Audax Private Debt business in New York and external managers to develop financial forecasting models, underwriting models, financial planning, budgets, and fund structures. The candidate will help develop the analytical systems driving decision making. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player with strong technical skills able to materialize concepts into effective, concise, and timely analysis.
In addition to demonstrating a broad understanding of finance, investments, and accounting, candidates will be assessed based on their capabilities in three key areas:
- Developing and maintaining integrated firm-wide business models
- Performing recurring and ad hoc financial and operational analyses and reporting
- Assisting in the development and implementation of systems and processes
The candidate will be required to present outcomes to management and explain the drivers of specific outcomes in detail, with an emphasis on how certain inputs affect results.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Updating existing and creating multivariable models outlining Business Unit P&Ls, cash flows, and capital requirements
- Running sensitivity and scenario analyses, including tax impacts, resulting from model input adjustments
- Updating projections based on actual data obtained from systems
- Constructing hypothetical models to evaluate new products
- Developing analytical models to project the effects of various leverage facilities on fund performance
- Developing and conveying executive level summaries and recommendations as needed
- Executing weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting packages
- Updating and enhancing existing models in Excel
- Updating and enhancing existing models in Anaplan and transitioning Excel models into Anaplan
- Updating sale proceeds waterfalls for individual investments as well as funds, including estimates of carried interest
- Assisting in responses to fundraising and investor requests
- Compiling performance and holdings reporting
- Documenting as-is work-flow and offer recommendations on efficiency improvements
- Work cooperatively with team members toward a shared goal
- Be available to provide timely communication to internal and external stakeholders on projects when required
- Independently manage competing timelines and priorities accordingly on engagements
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-3 years professional experience in an analytical role developing financial models utilizing data driven systems
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related major, with a solid grasp of investments and an exceptional GPA
- Understanding of alternative investments, a plus: private debt (Senior, Mezzanine, and/or Direct Lending)
- Strong proficiency with Excel
- Experience with Anaplan or other budgeting/forecasting software, fund accounting software, Investran and SQL a plus
- Understanding of accounting a plus
- Demonstrated ability to break down complex concepts and explain them
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Keen attention to detail
LOCATION: New York, NY. 4 days/week in office. These in-office requirements may change based on the needs of the business.
For New York City only: The base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $125,000. The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation may vary and will be determined based on but not limited to, the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and Audax reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. An employee may also be eligible for annual discretionary incentive compensation based on performance.
