Overview
Axle is looking to add a driven, flexible, organized, and meticulous Clinical Research Coordinator to our dynamic team. The Contractor(s) shall provide services in support of the overall functions of the Laboratory of Immunoregulation (LIR), Division of Intramural Research (DIR). Candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience recruiting native and non-native English speaking clinical patients.
Technical Requirements:
- Communicate with clinics, and their clinicians, within a 50-mile radius of Bethesda, MD who serve patients who do or might qualify for an ongoing or new clinical trial that is part of NIAID’s division of intramural research portfolio.
- Distribute advertisement material for clinical protocols to clinics, and their clinicians, within a 50-mile radius of Bethesda, MD using methodologies other than social media.
- Manage communication between native and non-native English speakers and the clinical staff to ensure patients are aware of the conditions to being part of a clinical trial in the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center.
- Assist clinical protocol coordinators with communication needs with native and non-native speakers during the pre-screening process to enroll new patients.
- Organize local transportation between pre-screened and/or enrolled patients.
- Assist patients, as needed, to ensure patients bring all required medical or legal documentation with them to the clinical center to ensure smooth admission process.
- Meet and escort non-native speaking patients through NIH gateway center to the clinical center.
- Coordinate with clinicals and scientists to provide information to the Office of Patient Recruitment as Office of Patient Recruitment creates recruitment material for clinical studies.
- Provide information to the patient on where to get additional services from licensed medical health care professionals that might be helpful during their time here in the clinical programs.
- Provide follow-up information to clinical protocol owners on reasons why a patient failed to arrive for appointment that can then be used to mitigate future failure situations.
- Discuss and report data on patient recruitment and any related information, to clinical protocol owners.
- Communicate to Federal Task Leader any resources additional resources that might be needed to successfully recruit patients.
Specific Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree or at least (3) years experiential equivalent of working with reserved individuals in a clinical setting
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience recruiting native and non-native English speaking clinical patients.
- Fluent in Spanish
- Prior experience working collaboratively with chronically ill or high-risk patients, nurses, doctors, and PhD research scientists.
- Experience and knowledge of clinical patient onboarding and retention, preferrable at the NIH clinical center
- Experience recruiting patients to clinical trials using methods other than social media
- Local Travel (within a 50 mile radius of Bethesda, MD) may be required based on the tasks above
- Part-time: 960 hours, with quantity option for additional 960 hours.

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
Salary Range
$65,000 - $70,000 USD
