Job Summary:
Axon is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, accounting leader in a key emerging market of our business. This is a senior role within the accounting function, which will start off as an individual contributor, solely focused on standing up a legal entity in Brazil, supporting high growth for the business. We’re looking for an experienced accounting leader, who has implemented IT systems and is highly familiar with the local statutory, tax, reporting and accounting rules. The LATAM Business Controller will work cross functionally with tax, legal, sales and procurement teams and be comfortable making decisions supporting the long-term vision of the business. Specifically, the ability to communicate US and Brazilian GAAP differences to non-Finance stakeholders, while also identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and mitigate risk. This role will also support from a PMO perspective working cross functionally with all other stakeholders, mainly IT and operations, while establishing the accounting systems and process for the entity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly accounting close for this newly created entity, including reporting, implementation of SOX controls and contract reviews to support revenue recognition
- Support the tax team with strategy, compliance and other reporting requirements linked to ICMS, PIS/COFINS, and other applicable taxes
- Support the reconciliation of any GAAP to STAT differences on a quarterly basis
- Leverage Axon’s corporate accounting team to support documentation of accounting policy items and account reconciliations
- Partner with the commercial, operations and FP&A teams to establish best practices over pre-contract reviews and other planning to support fulfilment and strategic initiatives
- Subject matter expert to support strategic decision making as part of the accounting systems and ERP setups
- Partner with the broader international controllership team to streamline and accelerate the accounting close, utilizing accounting close, account reconciliations and other transformation related KPIs
- Support treasury function in roll-out of a potential hedging program
What You Bring
- BS or equivalent in Accounting or Finance,
- CPA or Chartered Accountant is strongly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive audit and/or accounting experience in country
- Proven experience working in multi-national, public company, supporting the 10-Q/K process
- Strong understanding of Brazil GAAP, transfer pricing and local reporting requirements for a hardware distributor
- Comfortable working directly with local tax authorities and auditors
- Strong technical US GAAP knowledge
- Strong business acumen, leadership, communication, organization and technology skills
- Experience in supporting a global organization across multiple time zones
- Experience working in D365, Blackline and/or consolidation tools is a plus
- Fluent in Portuguese and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
