Essential Job Duties

BambooHR is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to head our Business Intelligence team. Reporting to the VP of Data & Business Intelligence, this leader will establish a new internal data function focused on delivering timely, trustworthy, and actionable insights across the organization. Responsibilities include managing Analytics Engineering and BI Dashboard Engineering, while collaborating with Data Engineering and Advanced Analytics. This leader will forge strong partnerships with Finance, Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and Product, driving the development of scalable data solutions and transforming our data into a strategic asset. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape BI strategy, foster data-driven cultures, and directly contribute to BambooHR's growth.

You will:

  • Demonstrates advanced business acumen.  Proactively identifies and proposes new initiatives based on industry trends and emerging technologies to advance business goals. Utilizes data and KPIs to track performance, measure decision impact, and drive prescriptive solutions. Integrates a deep understanding of company-wide business initiatives with data-driven insight to help align division objectives with overarching models like the customer journey, product development, and Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy.
  • Partner closely with leaders and stakeholders across FP&A, Customer Success, Marketing, Sales, Product, and other departments to understand their unique data and reporting needs. Translate business requirements into actionable technical specifications to deliver data-driven decision value.
  • Oversee the end-to-end development and delivery of BI solutions, including robust backend data transformations (leveraging the expertise of Analytics Engineers) and user-friendly, self-service dashboards and visualizations (leveraging the expertise of BI Engineers). Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and performance of these solutions.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in business intelligence and data analytics, inclusive of AI use in BI. Evaluate and recommend new tools and platforms to enhance the team's capabilities and efficiency over time.
  • Collaborate effectively with Data Engineering & Advanced Analytics teams to define data requirements, ensure data quality and availability, and contribute to the design and implementation of data products that help drive Descriptive, Predictive, and Prescriptive capabilities.

What You Need to Get the Job Done

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or a related field, with at least 5+ years in a management or team lead role.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Analytics, Decision Science, Finance, or related discipline. A master's degree is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.   
  • Proven experience leading/managing/partnering with technical teams, including Analytics Engineers and/or BI Engineers.
  • Experience working with data from various business functions (e.g., Finance, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Product).   
  • Strong proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Sigma, Omni) with the ability to self-learn new and advancing concepts and evolving approaches.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and database technologies for transformation through SQL, etc.
  • Experience in providing requirements and context for advanced analytics initiatives (e.g., predictive modeling, machine learning, prescriptive analytics).
