Job Profile:

Banyan is looking to hire a Management Trainee, Income Tax to join its highly functioning offshore Pakistan team. Reporting to the Tax Director based in Canada, the selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the Canadian corporate tax process, with additional exposure to international tax compliance in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. This position is ideal for candidates with a background in finance or taxation who are looking to learn and challenge themselves in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the corporate T2 income tax returns for Banyan’s Canadian entities. 
  • Support the international tax compliance cycle for Banyan’s subsidiaries in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.
  • Prepare T1134 and T106 foreign reporting disclosures for Banyan’s subsidiaries.
  • Assist with global transfer pricing calculations, documentation, and payments.
  • Prepare tax installment calculations and timely submit tax payments for Banyan’s software companies.
  • Assist with short-term and long-term global cash tax forecasting.
  • Provide verbal and/or written responses to inquiries from international tax authorities.
  • Assist with ad hoc tax projects, including tax research, drafting of tax memorandums, withholding tax filings, and sales tax analyses. 

Qualifications for success:

The ideal candidate for the role will possess the following characteristics:

  • University Degree in Business, Accounting, or Taxation
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong accounting knowledge and strong interest in corporate and international taxation
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including creating pivot tables and utilizing functions and formulas
  • Ability to complete multiple assignments with similar deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Highly motivated and energetic with interest in entrepreneurship, software, and finance
