Senior Test Engineer

SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented QA Test Engineer to join our growing quality assurance team. This role is a hybrid position that begins with a strong focus on manual testing and regression execution, with a clear and expected evolution into test automation development.

Working under the technical mentorship of our Lead SDET, you will be responsible for executing the day-to-day testing operations that keep our releases stable. You will start by mastering our application through manual validation, then transition to writing automated regression scripts and unit tests within the framework designed by the Lead.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manual Testing & Regression Execution (Primary Focus - Initial)

• Execute manual test cases for new features, service packs, and SaaS uplifts.
• Perform comprehensive regression testing prior to releases to ensure "Core Flow" stability (Invoicing, Login, Data Integrity).
• Validate fixes for reported defects and ensure no side effects (regressions) were introduced.
• Maintain and update the library of manual test cases to ensure they match current product functionality.

Test Automation Implementation (Growth Focus)

• Translate manual test cases into automated test scripts using Javascript and TestComplete within the architecture defined by the Lead SDET.
• Focus on the creation of routine regression scripts to increase automation coverage metrics.
• Maintain existing automated tests, fixing flaky scripts or updating selectors as the UI evolves.
• Eventually assist developers by writing and maintaining Unit Tests to support the CI/CD pipeline.

Defect Reporting & Quality Communication

• Log clear, reproducible defect reports with precise steps, screenshots, and log files.
• Collaborate with the Lead SDET during the "Quality Review" cycle to provide data on test coverage and execution status.
• Participate in daily stand-ups (during overlap hours) to communicate blockers and progress.

Working Relationship with Lead SDET

This role is designed to operate in close coordination with the Lead SDET:

• Orchestration: You will execute the testing strategy defined by the Lead SDET.
• Mentorship: You will receive code reviews and architectural guidance from the Lead to improve your automation skills.
• Escalation: You will be the "eyes on the ground," escalating critical blockers or quality risks to the Lead SDET for "Go/No-Go" decisions.

Key Success Metrics (First 12 Months)

• Ramp-Up: rapid mastery of the application's core manual workflows within the first 60 days.
• Execution Volume: Consistent execution of assigned regression passes within the defined release window.
• Automation Conversion: Successfully converting 20% of assigned manual test cases into stable automated scripts by Month 6.
• Defect Quality: Low rate of "Cannot Reproduce" returns on bugs you file.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS 

• 5+ years of experience in Software QA.
• Strong understanding of SDLC and QA methodologies.
• Technical Base: Proficiency in Javascript and familiarity with automation tools like Test Complete. (Must be able to read code and write basic scripts).
• Experience working with US-based teams and ability to have 6 hours of overlap with US Central Time (CST/CDT).
• Excellent written English for bug reporting and documentation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

• Experience with C# and Unit Testing frameworks (NUnit, xUnit, etc.).
• Experience testing complex financial or data-heavy applications (ERP, Invoicing, etc.).
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD tools.
