Credit Analyst

Position Summary: Bevel Financial is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Credit Analyst to join our expanding team. This role is crucial in evaluating the creditworthiness of potential and existing clients, assessing financial risks, and providing informed recommendations to support our lending decisions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in tax return reconciliation, financial analysis, an understanding of various business models, and the ability to learn and execute in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Analysis & Underwriting:
  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis of prospective and existing commercial borrowers, including reviewing financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements), business and personal tax returns, and other relevant financial data.
  • Evaluate credit applications, assessing the applicant's financial health, operational stability, and industry risks.
  • Identify key credit risks and mitigating factors for each transaction.
  • Prepare detailed credit memos and underwriting summaries, presenting clear, concise, and well-supported recommendations to senior management and credit committees.
• Due Diligence & Verification:
  • Perform thorough due diligence, verifying financial information and investigating any discrepancies or red flags.
  • Communicate directly with clients, their financial advisors, and other third parties to gather necessary information and clarify data.
• Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Management:
  • Monitor the financial performance of existing borrowers within the portfolio.
  • Identify early warning signs of potential credit deterioration and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Assist in the ongoing management and review of existing credit facilities.
• Market & Industry Research:
  • Conduct research on various industries and market trends to better understand specific business risks and opportunities.
  • Stay current with economic conditions and regulatory changes that may impact credit risk.
• Process Improvement & Collaboration:
• • Contribute to the continuous improvement of credit analysis processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Collaborate effectively with sales, operations, and legal teams to ensure a seamless and efficient lending process.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in credit analysis, financial analysis, or underwriting, preferably within a financial institution, bank, or lending environment.
• Strong understanding of tax returns, financial statements, GAAP accounting principles, and financial ratios.
• Proficiency in financial modeling and strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw sound conclusions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with commercial lending, asset-based lending, or other specialized financing products.
• Experience with credit analysis software platforms.
