Senior Director, Software Engineering

Boston

Bevi is on a mission to transform how beverages are delivered and consumed. Our connected beverage platform eliminates the need for single-use bottles and cans, making it easy, fun, and sustainable to stay hydrated. As the category leader in IoT-enabled beverage technology, we're building a future where Bevi machines are everywhere people live, work, and connect. We've raised over $160M in venture capital, serve thousands of customers across the US, Canada, UK and Ireland, and we've been rapidly growing year over year, saving over 1 billion bottles from waste. In addition to driving hypergrowth with our current product line, Bevi is heavily investing in new product development.

We are seeking a Senior Director, Software Engineering to own the strategic vision and long-term direction of Bevi's software platform. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, this leader will have meaningful ownership of the software roadmap, platform architecture, and engineering strategy, partnering closely with Product, Hardware, and the broader R&D leadership team to shape where Bevi's software goes, not just how it gets built.

This leader will define how AI reshapes what's possible across our products and engineering organization, build and scale the software team, and establish the platform foundation that supports Bevi's next generation of connected products, operating at a high strategic altitude, not just managing day-to-day execution.

As Bevi accelerates its AI roadmap, scales its fleet, and brings next-generation products to market, we expect the scope and influence of this leader to grow meaningfully alongside it. If you want to make decisions that stick and grow with a company at a defining moment in its trajectory, this is the right role.

What You'll Own

Software Platform Strategy & Roadmap

  • Own the long-term technical vision for Bevi's software platform, spanning embedded OS, Android applications, backend services, frontend experiences, and fleet intelligence. Ensure these layers function as an integrated, scalable system. You'll co-own the software roadmap alongside Product, influencing what gets built and why.

AI Leadership

  • Own Bevi's AI strategy within the software organization: defining what AI-native capabilities we build into the product, how we use real-time data from thousands of connected devices to create predictive and personalized experiences, and how AI tooling changes the way the engineering team works. You'll set the agenda and be accountable for measurable outcomes in velocity, quality, and delivery speed.

Architecture & Technical Direction

  • Set the architectural standards and long-range platform vision that will support Bevi's growth to tens of thousands of connected devices globally. Make the build vs. buy calls, define the scalability and reliability posture, and ensure today's platform decisions don't become tomorrow's technical debt.

Software Engineering Organization

  • Lead and scale a high-performing software engineering organization. Elevate engineering maturity, develop leaders, attract top talent, and build a team that executes on ambitious technical goals with consistency and ownership.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner closely with Product Management, Hardware Engineering, Operations, Beverage, and Commercial teams to shape the software roadmap and drive strong cross-functional alignment. Represent software engineering clearly and credibly across the broader leadership team and in planning cycles.

Who You Are

  • 10+ years building and scaling software or IoT products, with 7+ years in senior engineering leadership roles
  • A track record of owning technical strategy and roadmap direction
  • Demonstrated AI leadership: driving AI adoption across an engineering organization, building AI-native product capabilities, or fundamentally changing how teams work through AI tooling
  • Strong architectural instincts: able to make long-range platform decisions and evolve them as the business changes
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders; able to bring clarity to complex trade-offs and drive alignment in a multi-discipline engineering org
  • A track record of developing engineering managers and building high-performing teams in high-growth environments
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
