Job Responsibilities
- Primarily office-based work with occasional field assignments
- Process incoming field data and produce final land surveying project deliverables
- Draft survey projects in AutoCAD Civil3D or Bentley MicroStation
- Create digital terrain models from field survey data
- Conduct deed research, deed plotting, and map checks
- Prepare land survey plats, drawings, legal descriptions, and alignment drawings
- Review and check work for quality control, including QC checks of plats and drawings prepared by others
- Assist with quality control of client-specific deliverables
- Daily processing of data, including evaluating accuracy, sufficiency, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, professional, and industry standards related to boundary calculations and legal descriptions
- Monitor field crew production and provide quality assurance
- Provide technical office support (brief & de-brief) for field crews
- Provide field support for the land survey staff as needed
- Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure project requirements are met in the office and the field
- Train field and office staff in best practices and standards
- Ensure schedules and productivity objectives for preparation of land survey plats and drawings are met
- Identify possible problems and conflicts, and bring them to the supervisor’s or Project Manager’s attention
- Work under the direct supervision of a Professional Land Surveyor or Project Manager
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; specialized vocational training is a plus
- 5-10 years of land survey experience
- Strong computer and technical skills; proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation (Inroads & GeoPak), Revit, or similar applications is a plus
- Knowledge of Trimble Business Center (TBC) is a plus
- Proficiency in technical math; geometry and trigonometry are a plus
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and others
- Willingness and ability to be based in an office with occasional field work
