Data Scientist, Business Intelligence
BioMed Realty is seeking a Data Scientist to join the Information Technology department. The ideal candidate should possess a background in real estate, finance, accounting, and administrative support, along with strong organizational, communication, analytical-thinking, and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will also showcase the ability to collaborate with diverse teams at various levels. This individual will collaborate closely with business stakeholders and the IT team to convert data into valuable information for informed decision-making. This involves investigating the essence, definition, philosophy, and roots of a data element to create meaningful information. Responsibilities encompass database management, EPM system, report design, provision of accurate and reliable data, and ensuring easy access to information for users or system integration.
This position offers a hybrid work model, which includes 4 days in office and 1 day remotely. Hybrid work may be modified based on the needs of the company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze diverse datasets related to real estate markets, financial performance.
- Assist in the development and implementation of predictive models to forecast market trends, property valuations, and investment risks.
- Create data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to understand business needs and provide analytical support for investment decisions.
- Set up and facilitate meetings with Stakeholders to understand business processes, pain points, and project requirements.
- Understand program needs and document clear and detailed business requirements, including the creation of process flows.
- Acts as a translator between the business stakeholders and IT members to understand the business vision.
- Operate in both an Agile and traditional Waterfall environment while actively supporting deliverable creation and delivery.
- Routinely record and send out meeting minutes, decisions, and action items to team members
- Monitor and manage the Bl environment with regards to data import, data availability, data accuracy, and general performance.
- Evaluate structured data systems for understanding and defining data relationships and determining data utility in Bl solution design and development.
- Analyze data extracted from various sources, validate accuracy of data, and work with BI team to resolve data integrity issues.
- Collaborate across all levels of the organization, as well as with external customers, to understand reporting needs to provide appropriate solutions.
- Assist with installation, upgrade, and configuration of databases.
- Assist in supporting product launches and upgrades.
- Perform other related duties as necessary to ensure Bl system availability, effectiveness, efficiency and security.
Job Specifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Industry Standard Certificate in a related discipline.
- Working knowledge of finance and/or accounting principles.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Data Scientist, preferably within the real estate or finance sectors.
- Experience with tools to analyze, manipulate and visualize datasets (e.g., SQL/SSMS, Oracle, Excel, Access, SharePoint, Power Bi).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with real estate markets, financial modeling, and investment analysis is a plus.
- Familiarity working with relational databases and understanding interconnections among data sources.
- Knowledge of software development life cycle and software development methodologies.
- Ability to quickly learn new applications, processes, and procedures of varying complexity.
- Ability to determine unstated end user needs by analyzing user requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to articulate complex concepts business value of solutions in a clear and understandable way.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and innovative and strategic problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to function well in a virtual team, working independently while effectively managing time and priorities in a remote support environment, as necessary.
Salary Range: $104,000-$130,000 per year + bonus + long term incentive + benefits
The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining pay, we’ll consider location, experience, and other job-related factors.
