The successful candidate will support the International Finance team and partner on day-to-day activities with Clusters, external service providers, US Finance Team and other internal stakeholders. This role is a central and critical role within the Finance Organization as we embark on the next chapter of the Blueprint Medicines’ story. 

The person will start ASAP as a permanent employee. Reporting into the VP, Head of International Finance, the successful candidate should have strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving-skills and be able to drive financial processes effectively across the International Region.

 

What will you do?

Resource Management & Resource planning:

  • Finance Business Partner to the Country Teams and International Teams, providing support on resource planning, resource management, and investment decisions
  • OPEX Lead for the International Region (HC and external spend management), overseeing Actuals, LRP, Budget and Forecasts in a close collaboration with the Technical Finance Team and the FP&A Team
  • Develop and evaluate business cases for resource allocations, including support with the organization design, country prioritization and any ad ’hoc project
  • Lead Cost and Return on Investment (ROI) analysis for critical investment projects, and provide strategic recommendations based on the findings
  • Participate in the month-end close activities and provide support on technical finance matters such as payroll costs and analysis, bonuses, one off, accruals, flux analysis
  • Ensure internal controls are in place, well-documented, and adhered to
  • Primary point of contact for payroll and PTP audit processes, including Statutory Audit, SOX, and USGAAP audits, for the International Region and any local payroll tax investigations
  • Lead the preparation and review of SFS for Switzerland and manage the local statutory audits for Blueprint Switzerland
  • Manage the Swiss LRD hybrid model to ensure compliance
  • Lead the USGAAP valuation of the Swiss pension plan.
  • Implement and monitor local finance policies, incl. Travel & Expense (T&E) policies
  • Partner with the Global Procurement Team
  • Lead the INT process improvement initiative and identify and implement process improvements within the finance function
  • Support other finance topics as needed, depending on business requirements

Payroll, Tax & Reporting:

  • Lead and manage relationships with external service providers, such as BDO (payroll), ensuring compliance and service excellence.
  • Lead the payroll operations for the International Region (7 countries), ensuring accuracy and compliance with local regulations.
  • Handle payroll tax reporting and other statutory reporting requirements related to payroll.
  • Monitor regulatory changes related to payroll across the region, assess their impact on Blueprint, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Prepare and manage year-end reports, ensuring timely and accurate submission.
  • Work closely with the HR Team to assess and implement compensation changes and support relocation process, providing comprehensive costs estimates and tax implications
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for equity and payroll tax-related activities, in a close collaboration with the US Finance Team.
  • Participate in the local incentive compensation governance process with our cross functional stakeholders (LOCs, HR, Finance)
  • Monitor incentive plan payout calculations as per sales incentives framework in close collaboration with LOC Commercial Leads
  • Lead internal and external HC reporting
  • Conduct tax assessments, including VAT and customs
  • Support HR development and implementation of new HR ERP tool

 

What minimum qualifications do we require?

  • Master's Degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • 8-12 years’ of experience in Finance/Controlling/Payroll/Audit/Tax management, with ideally experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical or medical device industry
  • Microsoft Excel is a must, proficiency in Power BI, Microsoft Office and Oracle will be an advantage.
  • Strong organizational, innovative, creative, multitasking and problem-solving skills. Maturity, professionalism, and high level of discretion is required
  • English a must, another EU language would be a plus
