What is Box?
Box (NYSE:BOX) is the leader in Intelligent Content Management. Our platform enables organizations to fuel collaboration, manage the entire content lifecycle, secure critical content, and transform business workflows with enterprise AI. We help companies thrive in the new AI-first era of business. Founded in 2005, Box simplifies work for leading global organizations, including JLL, Morgan Stanley, and Nationwide. Box is headquartered in Redwood City, CA, with offices across the United States, Europe, and Asia.
By joining Box, you will have the unique opportunity to continue driving our platform forward. Content powers how we work. It’s the billions of files and information flowing across teams, departments, and key business processes every single day: contracts, invoices, employee records, financials, product specs, marketing assets, and more. Our mission is to bring intelligence to the world of content management and empower our customers to completely transform workflows across their organizations. With the combination of AI and enterprise content, the opportunity has never been greater to transform how the world works together and at Box you will be on the front lines of this massive shift.
Why Box needs you:
The Core Experiences team builds the applications that bring the power of Box's content platform to users wherever they work - in the browser, on iOS, Android, Mac or Windows. Our apps enable users and enterprises to manage, share, and collaborate on content at scale, with experiences tailored to each platform's conventions and expectations.
In this role you will work on the foundational tools and frameworks - from Continuous Integration to our Release Framework, App Store and Play Store delivery to web deployment pipelines, performance monitoring to functional test frameworks - to allow the whole team to be productive and deliver high-quality products to millions of users. We are looking for strong teammates who enjoy building solutions for other engineers.
What you will do:
- You'll work with product engineering teams and cross-functional teams to build, maintain, and improve tooling and frameworks that support the whole team's ability to build enterprise-grade mobile, desktop and web products, with a near-term emphasis on mobile.
- You'll work with a variety of systems - from CI pipelines and code-signing infrastructure to tiered release and deployment systems, crash and performance metric ingestion to automation frameworks - to tackle the top problems impacting team productivity.
- You'll dig deep and investigate the pain-points in our development processes and systems. Then we'll fix them!
- You'll lead and participate in design, planning, and architecture discussions.
- You’ll leverage AI-assisted tooling pragmatically (e.g., configuration refactoring, scripted upgrades) to eliminate toil.
- You'll research and propose various design approaches and present corresponding pros and cons to fellow engineers and management.
- You’ll champion best practices in security, compliance, and artifact governance within the software delivery lifecycle.
Who you are:
- You have 3+ years of software development or DevOps/platform engineering experience.
- You are proficient in a modern programming language (e.g. Python, C#, Swift, Ruby, TypeScript, Go), and have knowledge of software design principles.
- You have practical experience managing jobs and pipelines for CI/CD and SCM solutions like Jenkins, Bitrise, or GitHub Actions.
- You have practical experience with virtualization (VMWare, Hyper-V, Parallels) and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes) for build infrastructure.
- You have practical experience with build tooling in mobile ecosystems (Fastlane, Gradle, Xcode command-line tools).
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- You have strong design and analytical skills.
- You are curious, open, and pragmatic, leveraging new tools (including AI) where they meaningfully improve outcomes.
- You are familiar with modern unit-testing and functional-testing frameworks and methodologies across mobile and/or web platforms.
- You have a history of collaboration and success in small, high-velocity agile teams.
- You enjoy building tools and frameworks for other engineers.
- You have excellent problem solving and debugging skills.
- You assess, communicate, and complete project milestones with your manager and team members in a time-sensitive manner.
Bonus:
- Experience with build tooling in web ecosystems (webpack, Vite, npm, Yarn).
- Experience with mobile code signing, provisioning profiles, App Store Connect, or Google Play Console.
- Experience with web build and deployment pipelines and cloud hosting environments (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience with mobile device farms or cloud testing platforms (e.g. Firebase Test Lab, BrowserStack).
- Experience with Unix/Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with React Native build pipelines, Metro bundler, and cross-platform release workflows.
- Experience with browser-based testing frameworks (e.g. Playwright, Cypress) or mobile UI automation frameworks (e.g. XCTest, Espresso, Detox).
- Familiarity with observability and crash/performance monitoring tooling (e.g. Datadog, Crashlytics, New Relic).
- Experience with Node.js.
At Box, we believe that providing the best tools leads to the best outcomes. That's why we equip our engineers with AI-powered development tools like Cursor IDE and GitHub Copilot to help you write better code faster
