Overview:
Our Medical Records team is growing! We are seeking a meticulous and organized Medical Records Administrative Assistant to support our personal injury cases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting, reviewing, summarizing, and organizing medical documentation while maintaining strict confidentiality and ensuring compliance regulations.
This is a full-time position, onsite in our Hackensack, NJ office. We are in-office 5 days a week, Monday – Friday 8:30am-5pm.
Responsibilities
Collect, and organize medical records:
- Contact healthcare providers, hospitals, clinics, and other sources to request and gather relevant medical records.
- Thoroughly review and ensure completeness of medical records, including diagnosis, treatments, surgeries, medications, and other pertinent details.
- Organize and maintain medical records in a systematic manner, both electronically and physically, ensuring easy accessibility for the legal team.
Summarize medical information:
- Read and comprehend medical records, extracting and summarizing key information relevant to personal injury cases.
- Identify significant details such as injuries sustained, treatment regimens, prognosis, and any related medical conditions.
Assist with case preparation:
- Collaborate with them to gather necessary medical records and documentation for case preparation.
- Ensure that all medical records are accurately included in legal documents, such as complaints, demand letters, and discovery requests.
- Help identify and recommend medical experts who can provide professional opinions or testify in court, based on the information within the medical records.
Maintain confidentiality:
- Handle sensitive medical information with the utmost confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations and other relevant laws
- Implement proper security measures to protect medical records and ensure compliance with privacy guidelines
Communication and coordination:
- Effectively communicate with health care providers, law firm staff, and clients to obtain medical records in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with internal team members to ensure all medical records requirements are met for each case.
- Collaborate with attorneys and paralegals to address any medical record related inquiries or concerns.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, required
- Strong technological and computer skills
- Strong communication skills
- Well organized and ability to multitask
- Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred but not required
Compensation Range:
$40,000 - $45,000 USD
Compensation: The base salary or hourly range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to; prior relevant experience, business needs and market factors. Additionally, salary wages are only part of the total compensation package.
