Description:
The Environmental, Health & Safety (H&S) Leader provides site support through guidance in the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security disciplines.
Key Environmental, Health and Safety Responsibilities Include:
- Oversee Environmental programs at Braskem Oyster Creek and Seadrift Facilities
- Develop and plan policies and procedures related to air, water, and waste systems in accordance with organization and government rules and regulations.
- Audit air, water, and land systems for environmental compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Create and/or oversee reports such as Emissions Inventory, Toxic Release Inventory, NSPS VV/DDD, HRVOC (Oyster Creek only) and Annual Waste Summary to submit to regulatory agencies.
- Interface with regulatory agencies, schedule any required testing, and provide additional follow-up documentation as required.
- Support operations on issues related to flares and waste management.
- Lead and/or participate in investigation of environmental incidents and implement system improvements to reduce potential for future events.
- Lead environmental improvement and waste reduction projects to help meet company sustainability goals.
- Seadrift support will include overseeing consultants tracking air permit, LDAR and waste management compliance.
- Acts as the plant resource for related Health, Safety, and Security information on procedures, guidelines, and standards.
- Ensures that the Health and Safety (H&S) aspects of Operating Discipline are adequate and applied to achieve H&S performance goals.
- Assists in the development of Health, Safety, and Security procedures and reviews.
- Acts as site contact for Health, Safety, and Security issues.
- Maintains H&S files and records. Modifies and implements compliance tracking programs and recordkeeping systems.
- Conducts health and safety training, and coaches team members on Health, Safety and Security related tasks and activities.
- Assists in developing and achieving plant Health, Safety, and Security goals.
- Ensures Health, Safety, and Security compliance tasks are completed.
- Acts as the Radiation Safety Officer for the site.
- Continuously seeks out ways to improve Health and Safety cultural awareness.
- Interface with Industrial Park HES representatives as necessary
Requirements:
- 5 – 10 years of experience, preferably at chemical manufacturing facility.
- Good leadership and communication skills, excellent MS Office computer and organization skills, and an ability to interact and negotiate well with members at all levels within the organization.
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial or Occupational Safety or related field.
- Demonstrated experience applying EPA/OSHA regulations and working with regulatory agencies.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
- Strong initiative and drive to succeed
Preferred Skills:
- 3 years leadership experience in an HES department.
- Certification or licensure in the HES field.
