Description:
This position is responsible for leading Polymerization & Distillation Unit (PND) operations activities. The position provides daily production direction and oversight through interactions with staff, shift leaders, and Operators/Technicians to achieve business objectives. Provide technical leadership and support for the Production Group to accomplish business goals.
Requirements:
- Drive and maintain excellence in the tactical operation of PND Operations, effectively utilizing team technical knowledge and experience.
- Accountable for ensuring a safe and environmentally sound operation while maintaining quality and production goals.
- Leads troubleshooting activities to resolve complex operating issues and partners with technical resources, when appropriate, for such resolutions.
- Establishes unit priorities to sustain and improve operating performance.
- Provides overall direction and guidance for day-to-day operations to Shift Supervisors / Lead Technicians.
- Demonstrates commitment to Operating Discipline principles and the Maintenance Workflow process.
- Works closely with the Production Maintenance Coordinator to set maintenance priorities.
- Responsible for the coordination of plant start-ups, shut-downs, and participation in the Turnaround Planning process.
- Responsible for maintaining strong communications with salaried and hourly staff relevant to unit status, work requirements, and operational targets.
- Involved in the management of change projects, develops procedures, participates in incident investigations, and develops and directs action items. Serve as the subject matter expert for unit operations on a daily basis.
- Function as a key interface for Operations and the PMC
- Monitors the facility's status and leads the team in setting priorities for work activities.
- Communicates and interfaces with all Plant Departments on safety, plant operations, repairs, and scheduling to meet supply chain and customer requirements.
- Serves as a technical resource for team members. Assists team members when planning work, troubleshooting process deviations or upsets, executing startup and shutdown activities, and managing emergency situations.
Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:
- Must be available during off-hours to address issues with plant operations.
- Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in a polymers production facility or a 4-year Engineering Degree
- High school diploma required, with some college preferred.
- Must have strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate and motivate all levels of plant personnel and to work in a team environment while demonstrating a strong adherence to Braskem’s cultural competencies.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate activities with other departments.
- Must understand engineering basics and have a strong knowledge of overall plant operations.
- Proficient computer skills required
- Must be familiar with ISO, Process Safety Management procedures, and plant fire/safety regulations.
- Previous experience supervising hourly personnel is preferred.
