Investment Immersion Program 2025

Bridgewater's Immersion Program Winter 2025

What does Bridgewater do?

Bridgewater is one of the largest, most successful hedge funds of all-time, founded in 1975. We’ve built a unique understanding of global economies and financial markets used to generate high and uncorrelated returns (alpha) in systematic investment strategies.

At Bridgewater, we are on an audacious mission to build the deepest possible understanding of how the world’s markets and economies work and translate that into world-class investment performance. Our investment process is driven by a tireless pursuit to understand how the world’s markets and economies work — using cutting-edge technology to validate and execute timeless and universal investment principles.

About the Bridgewater Investment Associate and Engineer Roles

Our Investment Associates (IAs) are the core team focused on developing and delivering alpha – the unique insights that enable us to beat markets. Our approach is rooted in a fundamental understanding of the drivers of economies and markets. IAs are focused on uncovering new relationships, testing new data sources, and codifying our logic into systematic trading strategies.

Our Investment Engineers (IEs) focus on codifying the logic of how we understand global markets and economies. They spend their time designing and building algorithms used to generate our views on markets, translate those to portfolios, and trade them.

About the Bridgewater Investment Immersion Program

Our annual Immersion Program brings second-year college students from a wide range of backgrounds onsite to Bridgewater’s campus. During this three-day program, you will:

  • Gain exposure to Bridgewater’s unique culture and investment process.
  • Learn about the broader finance and investment industry.
  • Participate in classes based on Bridgewater’s macroeconomic investing training curriculum.
  • Receive coaching in preparation for interviews for Bridgewater’s summer internship.

At Bridgewater we value meaningful work and meaningful relationships. Given our mission to have the deepest possible understanding of global economies, we celebrate independent thinking and can only succeed by creating an environment where the best ideas win. This naturally leads us to embrace diversity and treasure our differences, and find, retain, and grow the best talent across lived experiences, identities, backgrounds, and more.

About You

In a nutshell, we are looking for exceptional minds; people with near-obsessive passion to understand how the world works, who are driven to produce insight, and who are undeterred by the unforgiving obstacles that markets challenge us with. These are brilliant and independent thinkers who call out drivel whenever they see it and are committed to working tirelessly to solve the problems they perceive. They are energized by the prospect of deep, intense and intellectual collaboration with others, and by receiving and delivering blunt, direct, and at times critical feedback (which can be painful), all in pursuit of constant improvement – of our outcomes and ourselves. Achieving our goals requires our investors to have enduring multi-decade focus to develop expertise, and a voracious appetite to find and seize opportunities in capital markets.

Eligibility

  • No prior experience in finance is required; we welcome all candidates from any major or degree.
  • You’re in the second year of a 4-year degree program at an accredited US institution (i.e. sophomore).

When: January 23rd-25th
