Senior Associate, Inbound Operations
Overview
At Brooklinen, operational excellence begins long before a product reaches our warehouse. We’re looking for a Senior Associate, Inbound Operations, to take ownership of our First Mile operations — helping ensure inbound shipments move efficiently, reliably, and on time from origin to destination.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations, this is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership across our inbound freight network. You’ll work closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and 3PL partners, while partnering cross-functionally with Planning, Production, and Operations to bring clarity, alignment, and momentum to how products move through our network.
This role is a strong fit for someone with a foundation in supply chain and inbound logistics who is excited to take ownership, solve problems thoughtfully, and contribute to building operations that scale with the business.
What You’ll Do
Inbound Execution & Partner Management
- Own end-to-end inbound shipment execution, from booking through final warehouse receipt
- Ensure shipments are delivered accurately, on time, and aligned to business priorities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for freight forwarders, customs brokers, and 3PL partners
- Build strong working relationships while holding partners accountable to SLAs
- Coordinate inbound scheduling and receiving flow with 3PL partners
Visibility, Reporting & Problem Solving
- Maintain accurate shipment visibility across systems and ensure data integrity
- Reconcile warehouse receipts and resolve discrepancies independently
- Own weekly reporting and monthly freight KPIs, surfacing insights to support decisions
- Monitor inbound flow across freight modes, identifying risks early
- Take proactive steps to resolve issues and keep shipments moving
Cross-Functional Partnership & Process Improvement
- Partner with Planning, Merchandising, and Production to align on priorities, timelines, and vendor readiness
- Communicate clearly on shipment status, delays, risks, and tradeoffs
- Lead and contribute to initiatives that improve visibility, reduce manual work, and support scale
- Help build more efficient, scalable ways of working across inbound operations
What Success Looks Like
- Inbound shipments move reliably, with clear visibility and minimal disruption
- External partners are well-managed and consistently meeting expectations
- Data is accurate, timely, and trusted across teams
- Cross-functional partners feel informed, aligned, and supported
- You are seen as a thoughtful and dependable owner who identifies issues early and drives resolution
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3+ years of experience in inbound operations, supply chain, or logistics, with direct ownership of inbound freight
- Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and 3PL partners
- Proficiency in NetSuite or a comparable ERP system
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with data
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously
- Clear and confident communicator, comfortable managing both internal and external stakeholders
- Self-directed and solutions-oriented, with the ability to operate independently
- Interest in improving processes and building more efficient ways of working
Nice to Have
- Experience in e-commerce or direct-to-consumer environments
- Familiarity with multiple freight modes (ocean, air, ground)
- Experience across transpacific and transatlantic shipping lanes
- Exposure to freight visibility or supply chain workflow tools
