Lead Infrastructure Engineer
About the role
As the Lead Infrastructure Engineer on the Fusion team, you will be a key driver in shaping the future of our production platform: Fusion Cloud. This is a hands-on, high-impact role responsible for the architecture, security, scaling, and operational excellence of our infrastructure platform. You will leverage your deep expertise in cloud services, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure-as-Code to ensure a world-class, scale efficient platform for the future of Builder.io.
Responsibilities
- VPC Architecture: Lead the design and implementation of Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) and hybrid cloud deployment solutions for demanding enterprise customers.
- Kubernetes Scaling: Architect the next generation of our production Fusion Cloud platform, optimizing for speed, flexibility, efficiency, and fault tolerance.
- Networking: Design and manage all cloud networking (VPC, security groups, routing, traffic management), ensuring optimal latency and security for Fusion environments.
- Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC): Standardize and evolve infrastructure using IaC, focusing on consistency, repeatability, and auditability.
- Observability: Drive a comprehensive observability stack (metrics, logs, traces) for production health, performance, and resource tracking across Fusion environments and the core platform.
- Tooling: Develop automation tools and internal platforms that reduce manual operations and accelerate our cloud management processes.
Requirements
- Experience: 7+ years of professional experience in an SRE, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering role, ideally in a high-growth SaaS environment.
- Cloud Expertise: Deep expertise in a major cloud provider (GCP preferred, but AWS/Azure experts welcome) and extensive hands-on experience with core cloud networking and security services.
- SRE/Platform Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency managing, scaling, and optimizing production environments.
- Adaptability & Initiative: Proven ability to navigate technical ambiguity, proactively defining and solving novel infrastructure problems alongside the engineering team.
- Customer Focus: A relentless curiosity about how our customers use the Fusion Cloud platform to drive continuous improvement in stability, scalability, and user experience.
- IaC & Scripting Proficiency: Expert proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and scripting (TypeScript, Python, Go, or Bash).
Bonus
- Experience building out infrastructure for VPC deployments.
The items above are a starting point for a conversation, not a hard list of requirements. If this role excites you, we hope you will apply!

About Builder.io:
Builder.io is pioneering the space between design and development, creating a new category of Visual Development Platform that transforms how teams build digital products.
Our Visual Copilot technology bridges the gap between Figma designs and production code, enabling teams to build interactive features using natural language while working with their actual code, data, and APIs. Alongside our code generation capabilities, our CMS empowers organizations to skip code generation altogether and publish updates to any live site or app in a couple clicks.
Trusted by leading mid-market to enterprise-level companies like JCrew, Vimeo, and Anheuser Busch, we're focused on eliminating the traditional bottlenecks between design, development, and content management.
Builder.io is committed to growing an inclusive and diverse team. We are an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, veteran, genetic information, marital status or any other legally protected status.
