Some examples include The Dawning, Festival of the Lost, Guardian Games, and Solstice. We add cheer, excitement, and a pinch of the unexpected to Destiny.
As a Systems Designer on the Destiny Events Team, you will work closely with the design team to improve existing events and build new, playful experiences. Expect to contribute to concepts for new events, make systems and content to support them, and to collaborate with other disciplines to deliver the best execution available.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with a small team to create a wide variety of pursuit and reward based systems
- Perform intermediate scripting and tool work
- Collaborate with multiple disciplines to create sustainable systems that excite and engage players
- Design creative additions and improvements for existing systems
- Tune gameplay values to create compelling moments and a satisfying progression curve
REQUIRED SKILLS:

- Clear history of collaboration with designers and other disciplines
- Experience working with game development software and tools
- Ability to build content and systems such as quests, reward structures, and basic game loops
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Desire to work as part of a large team and ability to take feedback and direction appropriately
- Proactive communication for technical and creative roadblocks
- Experience building or modifying content and/or systems of a moderate scale
- Ability to build or improve upon moderately complex systems and game loops
For Senior level candidates, in addition to the above Required Skills, we are targeting:
- Experience owning large-scale and/or complex features
- Ability to operate with minimal oversight while remaining highly communicative with teammates
NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:
- Passion for limited-time experiences and the unexpected, joyful types of play that can arise inside a game with a larger surrounding context
- Experience managing world, account, and character states through content and systems
- Technical experience writing text-based scripts to manage game systems (scripting in a Lua, Python, or similar language)
- Multiple shipped game systems within the console space
- Experience working on games as a service/live content
