Staff Data Engineer
Location: Remote (For Non-Local) or Hybrid (Local to NYC or Denver area)
Position Summary:
As a Staff Data Engineer at Capital Rx Health - Judi Care, you will serve as a technical lead for our data engineering team. You’ll architect and build scalable, reliable data pipelines and systems that power analytics, machine learning, and product features. You’ll collaborate across engineering, product, and data science to ensure our platform meets both immediate business needs and long-term infrastructure goals.
Position Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain batch and streaming pipelines using Dagster, Databricks, Apache Spark, and dbt
- Develop and evolve data models and business logic in Snowflake using dbt for transformation, testing, and documentation
- Establish and enforce best practices for data quality, observability, testing, and lineage
- Partner with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to define data interfaces and enable cross-functional use of data
- Contribute to the architecture of Capital Rx’s modular data platform, enabling client-specific data customization
- Lead technical design reviews and mentor junior engineers on scalable and maintainable patterns
- Work with DevOps and infrastructure teams to optimize cost and performance of our data stack
- Responsible for adherence to the Capital Rx Code of Conduct, including reporting of noncompliance
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a related field
- Strong experience with dbt for building and maintaining production-grade data transformations
- Deep knowledge of data modeling, ETL/ELT design, and data warehousing (especially Snowflake)
- Hands-on experience with orchestration frameworks (e.g., Dagster, Airflow)
- Proficiency with Python, SQL, and cloud-based data processing environments
- Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and observability for data pipelines
- Experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, or machine learning feature pipelines
- Exposure to healthcare data (claims, provider directories, eligibility feeds)
- Prior experience in a Staff or Principal engineering role with cross-functional influence

Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location.
Salary Range
$150,000 - $180,000 USD
