Carbon is revolutionizing manufacturing through our novel 3D printing technology and materials innovations. We're seeking a Senior Developer Relations Engineer to expand our manufacturing and developer community while driving adoption of Carbon's APIs and development tools.

About the Role

As a Senior Developer Relations Engineer on the Software Engineering team, you'll bridge the gap between Carbon's engineering teams and our manufacturing and developer community. It is critical in manufacturing that integrations via our APIs remain resilient and healthy. You'll help shape our developer experience strategy while creating resources that enable developers to successfully integrate with our platform. At Carbon, we understand the nuances of Developer Relations roles, and this role is considered important and necessary by everyone in engineering.

You will...

  • Ensure that every customer integration is high quality and resilient
  • Own and maintain the backend API services directly
  • Conceive our broader developer strategy, including API architecture
  • Design and deliver technical content including documentation, tutorials, sample applications, and integration guides for Carbon's APIs and development tools
  • Build and maintain relationships with key developers and partners in the additive manufacturing ecosystem
  • Create and present technical demonstrations and workshops at conferences, meetups, and other developer events
  • Gather developer feedback and advocate for their needs internally to help improve our products and APIs
  • Develop proof-of-concept applications and reference implementations that showcase best practices
  • Mentor other developer advocates and business development teams and contribute to team strategy

You have...

  • 5+ years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in a developer relations or similar technical customer-facing role
  • Strong programming skills in multiple languages (Python, Rust, TypeScript, C++, etc.)
  • Experience with REST APIs, gRPC, SDK development, and developer tools
  • Excellent ability to explain complex technical concepts to colleagues and customers
  • Track record of creating developer content (blogs, tutorials, talks, videos, docs, …)
  • Background in 3D printing, CAD, or manufacturing technology is a plus
  • Willingness to travel up to 5-10% for developer events and conferences

At Carbon, we look at the person holistically and carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining salary. The compensation bracket for this position is $202,400 - $303,600 per year taking into account your experience, work location, certifications, and the unique skills you bring to the role. If you are not based in our Redwood City office, the range above will be adjusted for the geographical differential associated with your actual work location.
