Senior Manager, Software Engineering

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead and empower our growing engineering teams. This hands-on leadership role requires a blend of technical expertise, people management skills, and architectural knowledge. You will be responsible for guiding the delivery of high-quality software while fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing engineering culture. Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and coach software engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and develop individual growth plans.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with team members, promoting open communication and collaboration.
- Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent.
- Ensure efficient, effective, and scalable team operations.
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Provide technical guidance and direction to engineering teams, ensuring adherence to best practices and architectural standards.
- Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions, offering insights based on experience and industry knowledge.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the technology stack and stay current on emerging technologies.
- Support teams on full-stack development challenges and offer hands-on technical assistance when needed.
- Utilize mature SDLC tools (e.g., Snyk, SonarCloud, CoPilot) to maintain code quality and security.
- Help coordinate consistency and collaboration across geographically distributed teams.
Project Management & Delivery
- Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of software projects, ensuring timely and high-quality releases.
- Partner with product managers and stakeholders to define project scope, requirements, and timelines.
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and proactively resolve roadblocks.
- Implement and refine agile development practices (Scrum, Kanban) in collaboration with Product Owners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (Master’s degree a plus).
- 5+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, with proven success leading SaaS product development.
- Experience directing and collaborating with offshore/nearshore resources.
- Strong background in full-stack software development with expertise in Java.
- Solid understanding of software architecture principles and practices.
- Hands-on experience with agile methodologies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience with cloud-based technologies (preferably AWS).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (preferably Bitbucket).
- Flexibility to support teams across time zones (calls starting at 6:30 AM PDT).
- Experience leveraging AI to accelerate development.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and React.
- Background with data teams, data processes, and data quality.
- Exposure to healthcare industry requirements and compliance.
