Cluster Architecture – Pre-Deployment Engineering Leader
Cerebras Systems builds the world's largest AI chip, 56 times larger than GPUs. Our novel wafer-scale architecture provides the AI compute power of dozens of GPUs on a single chip, with the programming simplicity of a single device. This approach allows Cerebras to deliver industry-leading training and inference speeds and empowers machine learning users to effortlessly run large-scale ML applications, without the hassle of managing hundreds of GPUs or TPUs.
Cerebras' current customers include global corporations across multiple industries, national labs, and top-tier healthcare systems. In January, we announced a multi-year, multi-million-dollar partnership with Mayo Clinic, underscoring our commitment to transforming AI applications across various fields. In August, we launched Cerebras Inference, the fastest Generative AI inference solution in the world, over 10 times faster than GPU-based hyperscale cloud inference services.
About The Role
In this role, you will be building and leading a function that is responsible for generating the blueprints needed for efficient and accurate installation of data center equipment including servers, network hardware, storage and optics/cables. This role will have the primary responsibility of last mile data centre deployment decisions. This includes making decisions on changes to a standard architecture spec to fit constraints of each specific data center deployment. These constraints can be driven by data center physical differences, supply chain restrictions or changes in architecture.
This role requires a very detailed oriented mind that can bridge the gap between fast paced tactical decisions vs building automation/software that allows fast, iterative generation of new BOMs based on data centre constraints.
The leader must collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors to orchestrate deployments while maintaining a strict build out schedule.
Responsibilities
- Be the primary engineering leader for last mile cluster deployment engineering.
- Lead a team of 3-4 engineers that can do tactical deployment of data center blueprints to our build and deploy team.
- Work with our cluster architecture team to deeply understand our cluster architecture so we can be ready to quickly deploy changes.
- Build a software automation tool that can automatically generate changes in cluster build of materials (BOM) based on data center constraints.
- Participate in every data center deployment at Cerebras. Generate BOMs, BOM management, rack elevations, standard versioning and automation of deployment flows.
- Own blueprints for rack integrators. Own and release standard cabling maps to build and deploy operators.
Skills And Qualifications
- 5+ years of demonstrated engineering leadership/management role in data center deployment project management.
- Excellent communication, articulation, collaboration and ability to act like a stakeholder.
- Tough decision-making skills with data and trade-off analysis.
- Be able to make quick, data driven decisions on changes to cluster architecture in light of specific data center constraints.
- Outstanding road map and schedule execution skills under tight timeline and budgets.
- Strong technical background in data center build and management.
- Strong technical experience in computer and cluster networks is preferred.
- Experience with server and network hardware configuration, including remote troubleshooting and hands-on installation.
- Contribute to the team's success by offering mentorship and technical support to peers and stakeholders, while actively seeking guidance and learning opportunities to deepen expertise and strengthen team dynamics.
- Proven ability to manage and work with remote vendors globally.
