Role Overview
This position is part of a dynamic team at the forefront of enterprise-level platform capabilities development to support the next generation of cyber network operations. In this role, you will contribute to development, integration, and deployment of an AI services stack leveraging platform tools that simplify complex infrastructure management across cloud-native and on-premises environments. Your work will involve architecting scalable systems, implementing GitOps workflows for version-controlled and automated operations, and designing declarative interfaces. The goal is to create tools and processes that bridge the gap between development and operations, enhancing productivity and reliability in diverse infrastructure settings. 

In this role, you will work on an agile team of 8-12 developers with various specialties to execute work across various development sprints. As a team member local to the DMV area, you will support the customer with on-site software deployments, technical exchange meetings, and help to guide the trajectory of the tech stack to be healthy and maintained for the enterprise. You will work alongside several other team members who will also be local to the area to support these activities. 

Responsibilities

  • Communicate thoughtful designs, architecture, and technology deployment strategies to the customer and to the internal team 
  • Develop robust and high-quality software and pipelines balancing user requirements with strategic goals and consistently delivering working solutions on schedule
  • Help set up robust automated pipelines and DevOps processes to get the project to the point of prompt Continuous Delivery
  • Meet weekly with the agile team to groom backlog, pick up work, and collaborate with team members to identify and resolve gaps and dependencies

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline. (Degree requirement can be met with 4 years of hands-on experience in a Software Engineering or similar full-time position.)
  • 12+ years as a DevOps, or equivalent role
  • Ability to collaborate as a team but execute independently
  • Thrives in a high-trust, adaptable team environment
  • Familiar with contributing to or leading the design of new capabilities
  • Experience writing code in a general-purpose language such as Python or GoLang
  • Highly proficient with Kubernetes (K8s) deployment, cluster lifecycle (deployment, troubleshooting, scaling), and container orchestration
  • Experience implementing modern DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD, IaC, GitOps) in production deployment workflows
  • Proficient in containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Podman)
  • Experienced designing and implementing solutions on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Current US TS/SCI security clearance w/ a CI Poly
  • Local to the Columbia, MD and/or Fort Meade, MD area
  • Ability to work on site with the customer minimum of 3 days per week

Nice-to-have Qualifications (in addition to the required qualifications)

  • Experience leading multiple teams and projects to a common end-state vision
  • Experience and/or familiarity with Crossplane and Backstage platform tools
  • Experience and/or familiarity with Generative AI platforms, tools, and concepts of deploying LLMs and similar AI models for various applications driven by K8s
  • Experience working within the cyberspace domain
