DevOps Engineer
The Team
At Coderoad, we're more than just a software development company—we're your gateway to the global tech world. Whether you're looking to skill up or level up your career, we offer the challenges you’ve been searching for.
We provide end-to-end software development services and give you the opportunity to work on exciting, real-world projects in a supportive environment. Whether it's staff augmentation, dedicated IT teams, or general software engineering, we have opportunities for everyone to challenge themselves and take their career to the next level!
About the Role
Our client is a fast-growing, privately funded startup company that applies AI and deep industryexpertise to improve the speed and efficiency of adjusting Workers’ Comp claims.
We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer who is a great teammate, thinks beyond the immediate problem, and is highly productive. You’ll help us build and operate reliable,
secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and delivery pipelines for a modern microservices platform.
You’ll partner closely with engineering to accelerate delivery while improving uptime, security posture, and cost efficiency—supporting an AI-powered product where privacy, auditability, and correctness matter.
Responsibilities
• Own and evolve our cloud infrastructure on Azure, including networking, compute, storage, and security foundations
• Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, including reusable modules and environment promotion practices
• Implement secure secrets management using Vault (or equivalent patterns), including rotation, least privilege, and auditability
• Operate and scale containerized services using Docker and Kubernetes, including deployments, rollouts, and cluster hygiene
• Design and maintain ingress/load balancing/reverse proxy layers using NGinx and/or HAProxy
• Build robust CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, with strong test gates, artifact management, and repeatable deployments
• Support data and platform services including PostgreSQL, backups, recovery procedures, and performance considerations
• Support event-driven and asynchronous workloads using RabbitMQ and/or Kafka. Collaborate with developers to improve service reliability: observability, alerts, SLOs, incident response, and postmortems
• Develop with privacy and security in mind including HIPAA and SOC2
• Contribute to Agile ceremonies (planning, standups, retrospectives) and participate in code/infrastructure reviews
• Learn! We work at the intersection of AI, Medical, and Legal fields. There is a great deal to absorb, and nobody is an expert in everything.
Requirements
• 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps / SRE / Platform Engineering roles (or equivalent)
• Strong experience operating production infrastructure on Azure
• Strong Terraform skills: remote state, modules, drift detection, environment separation, and safe change management
• Hands-on experience with containers, Docker, and Kubernetes, including day-2 operations
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD with GitHub Actions (or similar), including secure handling of secrets and artifacts
• Experience with reverse proxies / load balancers (NGinx, HAProxy) and HTTPS/TLS best practices
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL operations (monitoring, backups, upgrades, performance basics)
• Experience supporting microservices in production (service discovery, config management, rollout strategies, resilience patterns)
• Experience with messaging/streaming systems (RabbitMQ and/or Kafka)
• Comfort with cloud storage patterns (e.g., S3 or S3-compatible storage, lifecycle policies, backups/archives)
• Demonstrated experience delivering robust, scalable systems with automation and a quality mindset
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate design options for fit, scalability, security, and flexibility
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE (or equivalent practical experience)
Extra Credit
• Experience operating Vault in production (HA setups, policies, auth methods, rotation workflows)
• Strong security background: threat modeling, hardening, vulnerability management, and audit readiness
• Experience with observability stacks (metrics/logs/traces), SLOs, and incident management practices
• Experience in healthcare and/or legal tech environments; familiarity with HIPAA/SOC2 audit processes
• Experience using LLMs as a force multiplier in engineering workflows (without replacing critical thinking)
