Who We Are:

Cogent Biosciences is a publicly traded biotechnology company focused on developing novel precision therapies to treat a broad range of patients with unmet medical needs. Cogent’s lead program, bezuclastinib, is designed to selectively and potently inhibit exon 17 mutations found within the KIT receptor tyrosine kinase, including KIT D816V. KIT D816V is responsible for driving a rare and serious condition called Systemic Mastocytosis, and exon 17 mutations are also found in patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), a type of cancer with strong dependence on oncogenic KIT signaling. Bezuclastinib has exhibited promising initial data across all three trials: APEX in AdvSM, SUMMIT in NonAdvSM and PEAK in GIST, including an encouraging safety profile across 600+ patients in single agent and combination dosing. 


The Role: The Senior Manager of Trade and Distribution will be responsible for management of Cogent Bioscience’s network of Specialty Distributor accounts.  The Key responsibilities will be to oversee the physical and financial flow of the Cogent Biosciences portfolio beginning with the launch of Bezuclastinib. The candidate will be the primary for Specialty Distributor customers tasked with maintaining relationships and growing Cogent Biosciences business while contributing to the evolving channel strategy for products. This candidate will oversee all aspects of business operations within assigned customers including inventory management, product fulfillment, data flow and management of returns. The individual will report to the Executive Director Trade & Distribution within the Market Access team and work closely with Corporate Accounts, Payer Accounts, Field Sales, Patient Access Services and Commercial Operations as well as other internal Cogent Biosciences colleagues.


Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Relationship Management- Serve as the primary point of contact for 5 core specialty distributors. Lead quarterly business reviews, negotiate fee for service agreements and monitor contract compliance.
  • Sustain long-term customer partnerships with assigned accounts, based on a deep understanding of the customer organization, structure, business strategy, and priorities.
  • Ability to build effective business plans that align with access goals to support brand and market access strategies.
  • Develop contract negotiation and execution strategies with leadership team, including pre-contract financial ROI analysis, contract language negotiation, execution, post contract measurement and analysis. 
  • Supply Chain Integrity-Ensure seamless distribution of high value products and manage inventory to ensure patient access.
  • Data & Analytics- Monitor 852/867 data feeds to track product movement, inventory levels and channel pull through.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration- Partner with colleagues from Market Access, Supply Chain, Commercial Ops, Quality, Patient Services and Marketing to ensure distribution model supports the overall patient journey and brand strategy.
  • Trade Operations- Oversee the order to cash process, manage chargebacks, returns and any distribution related discrepancies within customers.
  • Ensure strategies and KPIs are implemented and monitored to achieve our commercial goals while working within the assigned budget.
  • Works within Cogent’s compliance policies.
  • This is a hybrid role and the candidate will need to be in the Waltham MA office 2 days per week.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree, MBA or RPh a plus
  • 5-8 years of pharmaceutical trade & distribution experience with a heavy preference for rare disease or oncology experience within specialty.
  • 5+ of experience in related fields such as Market Access, Wholesaler or Specialty Pharmacy account management, 3PL management or distribution & supply chain management in pharmaceutical / biotech companies.

Knowledge / Skills Needed:

  • Understanding of the current healthcare landscape, compliant manufacturer practices surrounding promotion, 3Rd Party Logistics, product distribution, and product fulfillment
  • Ability to build strong customer relationships, strategic planning and influencing skills
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to effectively analyze data to determine trends and inform strategy
  • Knowledge of data flow, chargeback management and or DSCSA requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills
  • Ability to manage up to 50% domestic travel

  • Salary Range:

175k-205k$USD 

Target Bonus: 15%
Exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, and location.
