The Opportunity…
Satori is now part of Commvault, the gold standard in cyber resilience and data protection for the hybrid cloud. Together, we are building the next generation of data and AI security platforms for enterprises operating at massive scale.
As organizations adopt AI and operate across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, data access control becomes a real-time, mission-critical runtime problem. The Runtime group sits on the hot path between users, applications, and sensitive data — enforcing governance and protection with near-zero latency and extreme reliability.
We are looking for a Principal Engineer to be key contributor of the architecture, design, and evolution of Satori’s Runtime group. This role is for a hands-on technical leader who thrives at the intersection of systems programming, distributed systems, and security, and who wants to build foundational infrastructure used by large enterprises every day.
Why This Role Matters…
The Runtime group builds core infrastructure that must be fast, correct, and reliable, enabling customers to safely unlock the full value of their data at scale.
In this role, you’ll have meaningful ownership, significant technical influence, and real-world impact, shaping how modern enterprises securely access and protect sensitive data.
What You’ll Do…
- Be a key contributor to the architecture and technical vision of the Runtime group
- Design and build high-performance, low-latency enforcement paths for data access across databases and the organization’s sensitive data
- Drive architectural tradeoffs across security, performance, scalability, and operability
- Build and evolve runtime components such as proxies and orchestrators
- Ensure the runtime is production-grade:
- Highly available and resilient
- Observable, debuggable, and auditable
- Safe to roll out, upgrade, and operate at scale
- Mentor engineers, raise the technical bar, and set best practices for systems and runtime development
Who you are…
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 9+ years of professional software development experience, with significant time spent on systems or infrastructure software
- Strong systems programming experience in C, C++, and/or Rust
- Proven experience designing and building production-grade runtimes, distributed systems, proxies, agents, or control planes
- Deep understanding of Linux internals, concurrency, memory management, and performance optimization
- Demonstrated ability to own mission-critical systems end-to-end
- Track record of technical excellence.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, and cloud-native deployment models
- Domain knowledge in databases, query engines, networking, or protocols
- Experience operating and troubleshooting large-scale production environments
- Familiarity with data security, governance, or compliance domains
- Experience supporting AI or data-intensive workloads
