About Commvault

Commvault (NASDAQ: CVLT) delivers continuous recovery for the AI era. We help organizations stay ready for constant disruption by returning critical data, applications, identities, and AI systems to a clean, trusted state. Our purpose-built recovery solutions span cloud-native and hybrid environments, leveraging AI to enable resilience at enterprise scale.

We're looking for a Principal Product Manager to own the strategy and execution for our recovery orchestration platform — the layer that automates, sequences, and validates how enterprises bring critical systems back online after an outage, ransomware event, or disaster. This is a build-and-scale mandate: you'll be responsible for unifying what are today somewhat separate capabilities into a single, coherent platform story — with the pricing, packaging, and GTM discipline to make it a durable, high-margin product line, not just a feature bundle. You'll operate at the intersection of enterprise infrastructure, cybersecurity, and cloud architecture, working with engineering, pricing/finance, field enablement, and customer success to take this from current state to a major platform launch.

 Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Platform Vision

  • Define and evolve the strategy for a unified recovery orchestration platform spanning multiple cloud workloads (compute, storage, databases) across AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Build the narrative for why orchestrated, tested recovery is a distinct platform capability — not a checkbox feature — for CISOs, infrastructure/DR leaders, and compliance stakeholders
  • Own the roadmap sequencing across phased capability delivery

Pricing & Packaging

  • Partner with Finance/Pricing to fix structural pricing issues (cost allocation across platform vs. product SKUs, bundle economics, SaaS vs. software parity) that directly affect adoption and retention
  • Build the business case and options analysis for executive/CPO-level pricing decisions, using cost-vs-price framing
  • Ensure packaging reflects real customer buying patterns rather than internal architecture boundaries

Cross-Functional Execution

  • Drive a large, multi-team engineering workback (dozens of workstreams across workload teams, UI/UX, and platform) toward a release date
  • Identify and escalate real schedule risk early and keep the leadership informed.
  • Partner with field enablement and customer success to close the gap between product capability and what's actually sold, deployed, and renewed

Customer & Market Insight

  • Validate positioning and pricing directly with field teams (solutions engineers, field CTOs) and customers — not just internal stakeholders
  • Understand the two adjacent buyer personas this platform serves (security/CISO buyers focused on isolated recovery and forensics, and infrastructure/DR buyers focused on operational recovery) and make deliberate calls on how the platform positions to each without diluting either
  • Identify new opportunities and problems to solve in the recovery space.

Executive Communication

  • Write clear PRFAQs, business cases, and stakeholder updates for senior leadership audiences
  • Present pricing and platform strategy directly to all stakeholders

 Essential Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of product management experience, with meaningful time in enterprise infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud platforms, or data resilience (backup/DR/ransomware recovery adjacent domains)
  • Demonstrated experience owning pricing and packaging decisions with measurable business impact (not just feature roadmaps)
  • Experience running large, cross-team technical programs with a hard external deadline (multiple engineering teams, dozens of dependencies, workback tracking)
  • Strong grasp of cloud infrastructure fundamentals across at least one hyperscaler (AWS, Azure, or GCP) — compute, storage, database recovery patterns
  • Track record of building platform narratives for technical, security-conscious enterprise buyers (CISO, VP Infrastructure, Head of DR)
  • Excellent written communication — comfortable producing PRDs, PRFAQs, and exec-level business cases independently

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Direct experience with backup, disaster recovery, cyber recovery, or ransomware resilience products
  • Familiarity with isolated recovery environment concepts (malware scanning, forensics-safe validation environments)
  • Experience managing SKU/pricing structures across SaaS and on-prem/software delivery models
  • Background partnering with channel/field enablement teams on complex technical products
