Occupational Health and Safety Professional | Hybrid
Job Summary:
- Safety consulting with the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Department of Health (DOH)
Responsibilities:

Utilize the DHS/DOH Action Plan: Implement and follow the DHS and DOH action plan to effectively manage scheduling, define responsibilities, and track task completion.
- Develop and Deliver Training: Create or adapt existing training materials to meet agency needs. Deliver training in-person or via webinars, ensuring all content is aligned with health and safety regulations.
- Conduct Assessments and Audits: Perform assessments in line with the Accident and Illness Prevention Program (AIPP) and agency policies. This includes periodic AIPP reviews and ensuring compliance.
- Analyze Data and Prepare Reports: Collect and analyze injury data to identify trends and provide actionable recommendations. Prepare detailed reports for agency review, suggesting corrective actions and tracking implementation progress.
- Support Injury/Illness Prevention and Safety Compliance: Provide expert guidance in the areas of injury prevention, industrial hygiene, and AIPP compliance.
- Independent Site Support: Offer independent, on-site health and safety support as needed, ensuring agency policies and standards are upheld.
- Client-Focused Flexibility: Adapt to the evolving needs of DHS and DOH personnel, ensuring strong relationships through excellent customer service and follow-up.
- Promote Safety Culture: Collaborate with employees and management at all levels to foster a strong culture of safety and compliance.
- Travel: Be available to travel to various worksites as required.
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet all AIPP qualifications and possess the following experience and credentials:
Experience:
- 2 years of Occupational Health and Safety Experience
Educational Requirements:
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline
And OR one of the advanced safety credentials listed below:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
- Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST)
- Certified Environmental, Safety and Health Trainer (CET)
- Safety Trained Supervisor (STS)
- Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC)
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- Industrial Hygiene in Training (IHIT)
- Associate in Loss Control Management (ALCM)
- Associate in Risk Management (ARM)
- Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE)
- Certified Risk Manager (CRM)
- Certified Director of Safety (CDS)
- Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP)
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
Other Requirements:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Strong assessment, verbal, and written communication skills
- Must have reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a background check
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Extended period of working via computer | Sitting for extended periods of time
