Job Summary 

The EHS Specialist is responsible for implementing and maintaining a robust Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program at a global manufacturing client site. This position ensures compliance with federal regulations (e.g., OSHA 1910), industry-specific standards, and company policies. The EHS Specialist will play a critical role in maintaining a safe work environment, conducting workplace inspections, delivering training, and supporting the client's operational and safety objectives. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrate superior knowledge in all areas of industrial, manufacturing, and distribution safety, including lockout/tagout, machine safety, chemical safety, powered industrial trucks, respiratory protection, emergency management, and PPE.
  • Conduct daily and weekly workplace safety inspections, preparing detailed reports on findings.
  • Deliver safety orientation sessions and mentor/coaching programs to promote safe work practices.
  • Review and manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for chemicals brought onsite.
  • Ensure employees are equipped with proper PPE and other safety equipment.
  • Update existing or develop new job hazard assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Inspect hazardous materials and waste storage areas and sign off on waste manifests.
  • Implement the client's specific work standards and ensure compliance across all operations.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to government regulations and safety standards.
  • Investigate and follow through on incidents, conducting root cause analyses and corrective actions.
  • Participate in internal and external audits to maintain compliance and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Report directly to the client's Business Unit Operations and EHS Manager.

Program Management: 

  • Develop and implement site-specific EHS programs and training, aligning with corporate EHS policies.
  • Maintain accurate EHS-related statistics and records, including training logs, PPE inventories, incident reports, and waste management records, using the client's proprietary systems.
  • Ensure all employees complete mandatory EHS training and remain compliant with certifications.

Required Experience 

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing or general industry safety.
  • Strong background in ergonomics and risk assessment is a plus.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills to effectively mentor and train employees.
  • Keen attention to detail with the ability to recognize and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing EHS policies and procedures.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills for maintaining safety records and incident reports.
  • Familiarity with government regulations (OSHA 1910) and industry standards.

 Education Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree is a safety related field
  • Certifications such as Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP). Degree in Occupational Safety or a related field. 
  • Equivalent work experience will be considered for highly qualified candidates.

 Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to perform job site inspections, which may involve walking, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to work onsite at a global manufacturing facility five days a week.

 Location and Travel 

  • This role is based at a global manufacturing client facility and requires daily onsite presence (Monday–Friday).
