Job Summary:
At Compliance Management International (CMI), our Construction Safety Professionals play a critical role in driving a culture of safety on complex construction and environmental remediation projects. This position focuses on implementing best practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting a proactive approach to site safety—especially on projects involving heavy excavation and environmental hazards.
Responsibilities:
- Mentor, train, and support staff in safety protocols and industry best practices
- Promote and model a strong safety culture across all levels of the project team
- Attend and contribute to safety meetings with varying frequency based on site needs
- Perform on-site safety inspections, including air monitoring using 4-gas meters
- Provide expert oversight during heavy excavation activities
- Lead pre-task planning, site audits, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and manage permit processes
- Facilitate site-specific safety orientations, conduct training sessions, and deliver toolbox talks
- Prepare and submit detailed safety reports and documentation as required
- Work independently to support multiple tasks and priorities in dynamic field conditions
Requirements and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of direct construction safety oversight experience
- Experience with environmental remediation projects is required
- Strong background in heavy fieldwork and excavation safety oversight
- Familiarity with air monitoring techniques and the use of 4-gas meters
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA Construction Safety Standards (29 CFR 1926)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach
- Effective collaborator with the ability to work across all levels of an organization
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar applications
Education and Credentials:
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (completed within the last 5 years)
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification, with current 8-hour refresher
- 8-Hour HAZWOPER Supervisor Certification required
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required
Physical Requirements:
- Extended periods of standing and walking, often on rugged or uneven terrain
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights as needed
- Frequent stooping, crawling, and bending in field conditions
- Capable of lifting up to 30 lbs
Other Requirements:
- This position requires the successful completion of a HazMat physical examination and drug screening.
- Must be available for overtime and adaptable to flexible work hours
- Residence within a reasonable commuting distance of the job site
