Position Overview
CMI is seeking an Environmental Manager to join our growing team. We are seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to lead compliance and sustainability at a major chemical manufacturing facility. Responsible for ensuring adherence to environmental regulations (EPA, RCRA, CAA, CWA, TSCA) and corporate standards, managing permits, reporting, and serving as the main contact with regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities
In this role, your day-to-day responsibilities may include:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations
- Manage site-wide environmental programs including air, water, stormwater, waste, and hazardous materials management.
- Maintain and update all environmental permits
- Develop and deliver environmental training to employees, contractors, and management.
- Conduct environmental risk assessments, spill response planning, and root cause analyses of incidents.
- Serve as the primary contact during environmental inspections, audits, and regulatory agency interactions
- Prepare and manage the environmental budget and cost control measures.
- Monitor and interpret environmental regulations for relevance and impact to the facility.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental compliance in a chemical or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of EPA and state environmental regulations.
- Experience managing Title V air permits and hazardous waste programs.
- Demonstrated success in leading agency inspections and audits.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with ISO 14001 EMS implementation and management.
- Experience with process safety, ESG reporting, and sustainability programs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods in field environments
- Capable of working in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and confined spaces
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for site work
- Ability to carry monitoring and sampling equipment as needed
