Safety Manager | Owners Representative
Job Summary
Compliance Management International (CMI) is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Professional to support data center construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, implementing industry best practices, and fostering a proactive safety culture across the project site.
The ideal candidate is a strong safety leader with experience supporting mission-critical construction projects while representing the Owner, and the ability to collaborate effectively with contractors, supervisors, and project leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentor, educate, and train project personnel on safety procedures and best practices
- Promote and maintain a strong, positive safety culture across the project team
- Participate in and support project safety meetings
- Conduct site safety observations and provide recommendations to improve work practices
- Lead safety processes including pre-task planning, audits, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and permit processes
- Facilitate site orientations, safety training, and toolbox talks
- Prepare and maintain required safety documentation and reports
Requirements & Experience
- 10+ years of construction safety oversight experience
- 3–5 years of experience overseeing data center construction while representing the Owner (Owner’s Representative role)
- Strong knowledge of electrical safety practices
- Thorough understanding of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for risk identification and mitigation
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and project leadership
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or comparable safety management software
Education & Certifications
- Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field
- CHST required; CSP strongly preferred
- NFPA 70E highly preferred
- OSHA 510 or OSHA 500 preferred
- First Aid / CPR / AED certification required
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions
This position requires active safety oversight on large-scale commercial construction sites. Duties may include walking active job sites, climbing ladders, entering confined spaces, working at heights, lifting up to 30 lbs., and navigating uneven terrain throughout the workday. Work conditions may include exposure to extreme weather conditions. Reasonable accommodations will be considered for qualified individuals.
