About the Role:

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will harness your extensive experience in machine learning and data science to drive innovation and performance at Constellation. In this role, you’ll be a critical contributor to the design and deployment of advanced AI systems that meet the high standards of compliance and precision demanded by our clients. Your work will involve exploring complex datasets, developing sophisticated ML models, and making impactful architectural decisions to optimize performance at scale. You will also play a pivotal role in mentoring team members, guiding project directions, and enhancing our platform’s functionality and quality.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product teams and data specialists to architect and build advanced generative AI systems optimized for regulated industries.
  • Drive Agentic AI Capabilities: Build agent-based systems that reason, retrieve, validate, and act autonomously, supporting prompt chaining, tool usage, and evaluation feedback loops.
  • Lead the setup and management of infrastructure for diverse OSS AI models, ensuring robust scalability and production-readiness.
  • Design, implement, and maintain efficient ETL processes in collaboration with Data Engineering to optimize data pipelines for real-time ML applications.
  • Innovate and recommend solutions to enhance Constellation’s technology portfolio, with a focus on explainable and ethical AI frameworks that meet regulatory requirements.
  • Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables efficiently, consistently aligning with Constellation’s rapid growth objectives.
  • Maintain and manage code within a Git repository, adhering to best practices for version control and documentation.
  • Mentor and guide the Data Team, fostering professional growth, technical excellence, and alignment with Constellation’s high standards for impactful, high-quality work.

Job Requirements:

  • 7+ years of professional experience in machine learning, data science, or data engineering roles, with deep expertise in frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch.
  • Proficient in ML platforms such as Dataiku, Sagemaker, and MLFlow, and experience deploying large-scale models in production environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of NLP techniques, including Embeddings, Encoders, Named Entity Recognition (NER), and Topic Modeling, with a preference for experience in fine-tuning transformer-based models and utilizing tools like Hugging Face.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with a demonstrated ability to work with large datasets and complex data models.
  • Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, Glue, and SageMaker, and a deep understanding of scalable infrastructure for machine learning workflows.
  • Demonstrated expertise in deep learning, particularly in fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs) and working with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). Familiarity with vector databases like Pinecone or Weaviate is a plus.
  • Familiarity with graph databases like Neo4j and understanding of network effects, as well as the application of these to compliance-focused AI use cases.
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of or a deep interest in compliance and regulatory frameworks within AI applications, particularly GDPR, HIPAA, or similar, is highly desirable.

Compensation Package:

New York Pay Range: $165,000 - $185,000
