Summary: We are seeking a skilled UNIX System Administrator to join our IT team. This role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining UNIX-based operating systems and related hardware, ensuring optimal performance and security. The successful candidate will troubleshoot complex issues, perform system integration testing, and contribute to improving our server environment.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain UNIX-based operating systems and related utilities and hardware.
• Perform system integration testing to ensure systems are functioning optimally.
• Troubleshoot and resolve UNIX-based hardware and software problems.
• Monitor system activities and fine-tune system parameters for optimal performance and security.
• Conduct capacity analysis and monitor disk space usage.
• Develop and implement procedures for routine administration, including backup/restore, shutdown, and startup.
• Provide recommendations for server environment improvements, addressing capacity thresholds, security gaps, patch levels, and hardware recalls.
• Define monitoring procedures and evaluate, diagnose, and resolve system issues.
• Participate in multiple projects, occasionally assuming a project leader role.
• Coach junior technical staff as required.

Required skills:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of IT work experience with a strong emphasis on UNIX-based systems.
• Expertise in multiple system environments.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting complex hardware, software, and network issues.
• Strong analytical skills for capacity analysis and system performance optimization.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Project management experience with the ability to lead projects and coach junior staff.
