Job Overview
Financial management is crucial to the performance and success of any company. The roles and responsibilities of the Coursera Finance team include accounting, financial reporting, analysis, planning, budgeting, and compliance. Problem solvers at heart, this team works to fuel Coursera’s growth by developing creative solutions in response to accounting and finance challenges.
Coursera is seeking an experienced GL accountant to join our growing Finance team. The GL accountant will be responsible for general ledger functions, including month end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional who multi-tasks well and can handle shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations in areas such as marketable securities, prepaids, accruals, commission, and intangible assets
- Perform analytical review of the Balance Sheet and Income Statement
- Assist in preparation for quarterly disclosure and cashflow workpapers
- Assist in documentation of internal controls and ensure SOX compliance in areas of responsibility
- Work with external auditors and prepare audit workpapers as requested
- Assist with other projects as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related area of study
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated knowledge of US GAAP
- Experience with Netsuite and Excel
- Able to work both independently, cross-functionally and collaboratively
- Demonstrable problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA license and experience in a growing SaaS company a plus
- Strong organizational and time management skills and able to work in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Values collaboration and contributing to the shared goals and success of the team and company
- Self-motivated and proactive with a strong sense of ownership

$73,525 - $86,500 USD
US Zone 3 - all other locations not listed in Zone 1 or 2
$69,275 - $81,500 USD
The range listed above is the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change.
Salary is just one component of Coursera’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for a bonus program and equity in the form of RSUs.
A number of factors are taken into account when determining pay, which includes: job level, location, training/education, business need, skill set, and internal equity.
