Job Summary

Courtyard is looking for a Senior Accountant who can operate at the intersection of accounting, data, and business judgment. This role will support complex revenue accounting and month-end close processes for a fast-growing marketplace with high transaction volume, payment processor activity, customer incentives, inventory flows, and evolving product offerings.

The ideal candidate has strong industry experience and has worked inside high-growth companies where accounting decisions must be made in real time, with imperfect information, evolving systems, and cross-functional dependencies. This person should be a technical accounting thinker who understands ASC 606, can evaluate customer programs, determine appropriate revenue treatment, document conclusions, and work closely with Finance, Data, Product, and Operations.

We are looking for someone who is not just a preparer, but someone who thrives in judgmental areas, asks the right questions, and can translate complex business activity into practical, supportable accounting outcomes. The ideal candidate should also be comfortable using SQL, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.

What You’ll Do

  • Own key areas of the monthly close process, including revenue, contra-revenue, customer incentives, payment processor activity, inventory-related accounting, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Apply ASC 606 to complex and evolving revenue streams, including standalone selling price, variable consideration, consideration payable to a customer, rewards, credits, discounts, and marketplace programs.
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, flux analysis, and supporting schedules with a focus on accuracy, auditability, and scalability.
  • Partner with Data, Product, Operations, and Finance to validate transaction-level reporting, identify data gaps, and ensure new products and programs are accounted for properly.
  • Use SQL, large datasets, automation, and AI-friendly tools to improve reconciliations, close processes, reporting, and controls.
  • Research and document accounting conclusions for new product launches, promotional programs, customer offers, and other judgmental accounting areas.
  • Support audits, technical accounting memos, internal controls, and process documentation.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5-7+ years of accounting experience, with industry experience strongly preferred, particularly in technology, marketplace, fintech, payments, ecommerce, crypto, rewards/loyalty, or other high-volume transaction environments.
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606, including revenue recognition, SSP, variable consideration, principal-versus-agent considerations, contract modifications, and consideration payable to a customer.
  • Experience working through judgmental accounting matters and applying technical guidance practically in an operating environment.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced company with evolving products, imperfect information, system limitations, and cross-functional data dependencies.
  • Advanced Excel skills, strong comfort with large datasets, and SQL experience or a strong willingness to use SQL regularly.
  • AI-friendly mindset, with an interest in using automation and modern tools to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • CPA or public accounting experience preferred, but not required.
  • High ownership, strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to build scalable accounting processes from the ground up.

What You’ll Get In Return

  • A dynamic and engaging environment focused on fostering real growth and innovation
  • Opportunities to create amazing products that our customers truly love and value
  • Comprehensive health insurance packages with dependent coverage
  • Competitive salary with ample opportunities for career advancement and development
  • Enjoy the flexibility of a fully remote work environment
  • 401(k) plan with a 4% employer match to help you plan for the future
  • $100 monthly dogfooding stipend to support trying out our products firsthand
  • Access to employee wellness programs designed to support your overall well-being

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
