CSCI is on the hunt for a seasoned Accountant to take the lead and serve as our Subject Matter Expert (SME) in financial statement reporting for a major Department of Defense (DoD) client.

Responsibilities
- Assist in the quarterly audited financial statement close for the Department of Defense (DoD) General Fund (GF)
- Oversee the preparation of accompanying notes and financial statement variance analyses
- Respond to inquiries and requests for accompanying financial statement notes and other supplementary information from the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense (OUSD) and Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS)
- Review manual adjustments, including required adjustments obtained from nonintegrated accounting source and legacy systems
- Advise on the implementation of Federal Accounting Standard Advisory Board (FASAB), US Treasury, DoD, and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) policy and accounting guidance
- Conduct audited financial statement reviews with OUSD and DFAS management
- Present walkthroughs of financial statements and note disclosures in response to external auditor inquiries
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management
- Must have a Department of Defense Secret Clearance
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Minimum 3 years of specific experience relative to DoD GF operations, accounting, and budget, including experience with the Defense Departmental Reporting System (DDRS)
- Familiarity with Statement of Federal Financial Accounting Standards (SFFAS), OMB Circulars A-11 and A-136
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Creativity and adaptability in problem-solving
- Ability to work with clients to understand their needs
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional presence
Preferred Skills
- Extensive experience in financial management and audit readiness, particularly within the DoD
- Experience with the General Fund, Working Capital Fund, and the implementation of SAP-based enterprise resource planning systems
- Proven track record in advising on financial policies and conducting financial statement reviews
- General understanding of recent FASAB and OMB audited financial statement reporting requirements, including recently adopted guidance regarding the accounting for inventory, fixed assets, and leases
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently
- Strong customer and vendor relationship skills
- Demonstrated ability to comply with data standards and policies
- Motivation to learn new technologies and methodologies that demonstrate value
