Project Manager - Financial Reporting and Audit Support

Job Description

CSCI Consulting is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead a Financial Reporting & Audit Support team for a federal client. The ideal candidate will lead coordination and delivery of key financial compliance activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, effective audit response, and alignment with federal policies and regulations.

This position involves managing cross-functional teams, interfacing with internal and external stakeholders, and overseeing document development, reviews, and submissions. It requires strong project management capabilities, exceptional communication skills, and experience working with federal financial systems and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate development and submission of federal financial reporting content, including sections related to improper payments, questioned costs, and internal control findings
  • Manage project timelines, stakeholder input, and review cycles to ensure high-quality, timely deliverables
  • Facilitate effective communication among contributors across multiple operating divisions and external partners
  • Organize and lead meetings, respond to stakeholder inquiries, and maintain status reports throughout the reporting lifecycle
  • Maintain project documentation, version control, and distribution through collaboration platforms such as SharePoint
  • Assist in responding to audit and data calls from oversight entities, including coordinating internal documentation and responses
  • Support year-end financial activities, including drafting and editing briefing materials, coordinating interagency communications, and reviewing policy updates
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of risk assessments and program inventories related to financial and compliance reporting
  • Recommend process improvements, update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and support alignment with government-wide financial integrity initiatives
  • Support resolution of audit findings and contribute to strategic planning and policy development for audit response and financial oversight

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Policy, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in federal financial management, audit support, or compliance project management
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience applying federal financial reporting standards, audit procedures, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., OMB Circular A-123, A-136, Payment Integrity Information Act) in a government or government-supporting environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage complex timelines and competing priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize information for diverse audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration platforms like SharePoint
  • Experience working with federal agencies, audit bodies, or oversight organizations
  • Creativity and adaptability in problem-solving
  • Ability to work with clients to understand their needs
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional presence

Preferred Skills

  • PMP, CPA, CGFM, or other relevant certification
  • Experience supporting financial management in federal healthcare, grants, or risk-susceptible programs
  • Familiarity with improper payments legislation and audit lifecycle best practices
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Strong customer and vendor relationship skills
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with data standards and policies
  • Motivation to learn new technologies and methodologies that demonstrate value
  • Past experience working with a federal agency
  • Department of Defense experience is a plus!
