Global Trade Services - Functional Lead
Job Description
CSCI Consulting is looking for a Global Trade Services (GTS) Functional Lead to support our federal client. In this role, the GTS Functional Lead will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SAP GTS - supporting our federal client's Joint Transportation Management System (JTMS) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Modernization initiative. This role will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of trade compliance, export control, and end-to-end integration across the Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise (JDDE).
Responsibilities
- Serve as the functional lead for SAP GTS, including compliance, customs management, and trade controls within the JTMS ERP environment
- Lead business process reengineering (BPR) efforts for global trade, export/import compliance, and product classification processes
- Define, document, and validate As-Is and To-Be trade compliance processes, ensuring alignment with DoW, federal, and international regulatory requirements
- Configure and support SAP GTS modules, including compliance management, embargo checks, sanctioned party screening, and customs processes
- Ensure integration of GTS with SAP S/4HANA Transportation Management, logistics, and financial modules to enable end-to-end transaction visibility and compliance
- Provide expertise in export control regulations (e.g., ITAR/EAR), customs compliance, and trade data governance
- Support system design), including RICE-W objects
- Lead data migration requirements, classification validation, and master data governance related to materials, products, and trade attributes
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (logistics, transportation, finance, cybersecurity) to ensure fully integrated ERP capabilities
- Provide leadership and guidance to junior functional analysts and support governance forums and design reviews
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Information Systems, or related field
- 8–12+ years of experience in global trade compliance, export control, or customs management
- Demonstrated experience with SAP GTS implementation and configuration
- Strong knowledge of ITAR, EAR, export licensing, embargoes, and denied party screening requirements
- Experience supporting ERP implementations (SAP S/4HANA preferred)
- Experience with business process analysis, requirements definition, and system integration
- Ability to lead testing, data validation, and configuration activities
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Creativity and adaptability in problem-solving
- Ability to work with clients to understand their needs
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional presence
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting DoW or federal logistics/transportation environments
- Prior experience supporting JTMS or large-scale DoD ERP transformation programs
- SAP certification in GTS or related logistics modules
- Experience with Product Compliance and integration with transportation or supply chain systems
- Familiarity with audit readiness, compliance reporting, and regulatory inspections
- Experience working in Agile or hybrid Agile delivery environments
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently
- Strong customer and vendor relationship skills
- Demonstrated ability to comply with data standards and policies
- Motivation to learn new technologies and methodologies that demonstrate value
- Past experience working with a federal agency
- Department of War, etc. experience is a plus!
