About the Role: We are looking for a driven individual to serve as our Associate Corporate Counsel, reporting to the senior lawyer who heads up our commercial contracting function. This is a role for someone energized by the opportunity to build or improve the end-to-end contracting process leveraging technology, while working on a large number of contracts to support all aspects of the company’s operations. We are looking for a corporate attorney to partner with and advise business teams on a variety of commercial contracts and legal issues. The position represents an excellent opportunity to make substantial contributions to a dynamic business. The successful candidate will be a skilled commercial contracts attorney that is a team player and someone who can creatively solve problems, make process improvements, while applying sound business and legal judgment to a wide variety of commercial contracts and relationships.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage the day-to-day drafting and review of a significant number of contracts, ensuring that contracts are processed and executed in a timely and compliant manner
- Engage closely with contract owners and internal stakeholders to ensure all requirements and needs are satisfactorily addressed
- Develop strong understanding of the Company’s business needs and knowledge of the cannabis industry laws and regulations
- Establish a robust contract depository and template library
- Aid in the maintenance and increased utilization of contract templates to streamline processes
- Develop, improve and implement processes around contracting and contract compliance; be an engine of moving to best practices
- Collaborate with legal and business teams to implement and monitor processes for contract performance tracking and compliance
- Master software platforms and other tools used in the legal function (contracting, matter management, e-billing etc.) and work closely with IT and other departments to ensure successful implementation and integration of legal technology solutions
- Assist with other corporate matters that arise in the day to day of the legal function, including litigation, and assist with special projects on an as-needed basis
