Cybersecurity & Technical Operations Intern
David Zwirner Gallery is seeking a technically capable, curious, and proactive Cybersecurity & Technical Operations Intern to support our Digital team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with hands-on cybersecurity and programming experience to contribute to meaningful infrastructure and security work at one of the world’s leading contemporary art galleries.
What You’ll Do:
- Independently operate and support security tools such as OpenVAS, Nmap, and Kali Linux.
- Conduct internal network and vulnerability scans, analyze findings, and assist in remediation efforts.
- Build or contribute to internal tools and scripts for reporting, automation, or integration using frameworks like Django or Express.
- Assist with the evaluation of security tools, platform integrations, and vendor proof-of-concepts.
- Support broader technical operations projects such as endpoint security improvements, process documentation, and inventory of systems or credentials.
- Help document workflows, technical SOPs, and training materials for internal teams.
- Contribute to improving authentication and access practices across systems (e.g., passkeys, hardware-based 2FA).
Who You Are:
- A student or recent graduate in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Comfortable running network security tools such as OpenVAS, Nmap, Wireshark, or Burp Suite.
- Proficient in Python or JavaScript, and experienced with fullstack frameworks like Django or Express.
- Familiar with or interested in endpoint security, identity and access management (IAM), and secure authentication practices.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision, communicate clearly, and stay organized in a dynamic environment.
- Bonus: Familiar with Mac-based environments, MDM or EDR tools, SIEM platforms, or AI/ML programming.
- Bonus: Interest in the art world or gallery operations is appreciated but not required.
