ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Director or Senior Director of Payer Growth at Daymark, you will report to the VP of Growth and be a part of the team establishing strong payer partnerships and implementing strategies to scale Daymark Health to additional markets. In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of strategy, execution, and relationship management, responsible for convincing the nation’s payers that Daymark is their partner of choice in the shift to value-based care. Working closely with our Clinical Operations, Finance, Product, and Clinical leadership teams, you will be central to advancing our mission by accelerating our payer pipeline and helping us to expand access to world-class integrated cancer care across the country.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Strategic Partnerships:
- Analyze market trends, payer policies, and the competitive landscape to identify opportunities for the growth pipeline and conduct outbound engagement with potential payer partners.
- Identify and establish partnerships with payers (e.g., insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid), owning a portfolio of payer relationships and acting as Daymark’s primary point of contact for selected partners.
- Map and engage with key contacts at potential payer partners (including network leaders, value based care experts, and clinical leaders), developing and nurturing those relationships over the course of long sales cycles.
- Serve as a trusted partner to Daymark’s CoFounder and VP of Growth, able to independently manage payer relationships from opportunity analysis through contracting.
- Develop presentation and proposal materials for payer partners, translating market insights into compelling collateral. Tailor our model and materials to specific plans and markets, working with the Finance team as needed to develop plan-specific economics.
- Partner closely with the Provider Growth team to leverage provider relationships in the sales process with national payers.
- Own all RFP and RFI processes for national payers.
- Manage complex value-based care contracting and negotiation processes to ensure terms that promote Daymark’s long-term operational success.
Cross Functional Leadership
- Play a key role in supporting operational handoffs from sales through implementation, bridging between Growth and Care Delivery.
- Built playbooks and resources for our regional clinical and operational leaders in each established market to support continued growth strategies with key clients.
- Provide insights and feedback to our Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to ensure offerings meet payer needs.
- With our Clinical Operations team, complete region-specific legal diligence to ensure we are compliant and on-track with various legal considerations, including credentialing, licensing, minimum capital requirements, etc.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Experience: You have 8+ years of experience in building and managing payer partnerships and driving growth in a healthcare organization. Your core strengths include strategic partnership development, market analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Industry Expertise: You have experience selling to national payers and developing value based care deals across Medicare and Commercial plans. You have a nuanced understanding of the pros and cons of these contracts and know what a good contract looks like.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to roll up your sleeves and contribute to operational models/proformas with input from your counterparts. We are looking for strong proficiency in analyzing operational data and identifying trends and variances.
- Travel Ready: You understand that the best deals aren't closed over Zoom, and you are excited to travel up to 20% of the time.
- Bias to Action: You move with purpose. You don’t wait for a perfect strategy; you iterate based on market feedback and "get paper in front of payers" quickly.
- Comfort with Ambiguity: You have a proven track record of success within scaling businesses, fast-paced environments, and startups. You understand that rapid changes to the business, strategy, organization, and priorities are par for the course.
- Player/Coach: You are comfortable setting the 30,000-foot strategy with an executive team, but you are equally ready to roll up your sleeves to handle the "nitty-gritty" of contract redlines and implementation hand-offs.
- Collaborative energy. You thrive in cross-functional work, seamlessly partnering with Growth, Analytics, Clinical Operations, and Product.
