The Role

As a Product Manager for Gemini Personalization & Model Behavior, you will be at the heart of shaping how millions of users experience Google's most advanced AI. You will drive the strategy and development of personalization capabilities that make Gemini more helpful and engaging. This role focuses on enhancing Gemini's ability to deliver highly relevant and useful responses and interactions by deeply understanding user context, preferences, and intent. You will define Gemini's persona and interaction style, ensuring it is helpful, consistent, and aligned with our users' needs.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Gemini's personalization capabilities, focusing on how the model elicits and applies user context to help users achieve their goals.
  • Develop and maintain Gemini's behavior and personalization, defining key attributes—such as persona, tone, and helpfulness—and the north star metrics and evaluations to guide model development.
  • Measure and analyze the impact of personalization and model behaviors on user satisfaction, engagement, and growth by defining and tracking key model and product metrics.
  • Create and manage feedback channels with downstream product teams and users to drive continuous improvement of Gemini's personalization and model behaviors.
  • Collaborate with UX research and design to deeply understand user needs and mental models around personalization to prioritize development of personalization model capabilities that users need.
  • Partner with Legal and Safety teams to ensure all personalization features are designed and implemented responsibly, respecting user privacy and aligning with Google's AI Principles.

About You

In order to set you up for success as a Senior Product Manager we look for the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics) or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of product management experience, including developing product strategy from the ground up, writing detailed requirements (PRDs), and launching new products or features.
  • Demonstrable, extensive technical knowledge and hands-on product experience with advanced AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Proven experience in designing, managing, and continuously refining rigorous evaluation methods and success metrics for AI models and AI-powered products.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently drive complex product initiatives forward in ambiguous and rapidly evolving AI contexts.
  • Proven analytical skills with experience in data-driven product development and experimentation.

In addition, the following would be an advantage: 

  • Track record of developing and launching successful personalization features in large-scale consumer products.
  • Demonstrated expertise in defining and shaping the persona, tone, and voice for AI assistants, chatbots, or similar conversational AI products.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, research-oriented environment.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity, collaborating effectively with highly technical and creative teams to navigate complex challenges.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience working across product, research, engineering, and policy teams.

 

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $183,000 - $271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
