Software Engineer, Full Stack Personal Intelligence

Mountain View, California, US

Snapshot

Artificial Intelligence could be one of humanity’s most useful inventions. At Google DeepMind, we’re a team of scientists, engineers, machine learning experts and more, working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority.

About Us

At Google DeepMind, we're building what could be one of humanity's most useful inventions. We are a scrappy and small startup-like team within Google. We aim to take products from Zero to One (and beyond). While we are focused on building new products, we also have a deep understanding of technology and ML and hope you are as excited about this technology as we are.

The Role

We are looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas in information retrieval, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing. Ideally you also care about UX and product. You are comfortable with uncertainty and are excited to build new ideas from scratch quickly.

We are trying to take some of the state of the art advances in AI  and bring them to various products, and will be iterating on pushing the boundaries of the underlying AI research to meet product needs, in collaboration with AI researchers.

You'll be a true full-stack product engineer, owning features end-to-end.  Our team culture is centered on moving fast to drive innovations and values to our users. If you're excited by a fast-paced environment where you can see your work have a massive, immediate impact, this is the place for you.

Key responsibilities:

  • Craft new product experiences with Full-stack Engineering: Design, build, and prototype new user-facing features from the initial concept to launch. You’ll use AI tools to create the frontend and serving infrastructure to build new experiences.
  • Collaborate with the Best: Partner closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, and world-renowned AI researchers to transform cutting-edge model capabilities into intuitive, magical product features.
  • Build for Scale & Speed: Architect elegant, scalable, and performant systems. We believe in lightweight processes and fast execution, so you'll focus on what matters most: shipping high-quality and reliable valuable features to our users.

About You

You're a product-minded engineer who is obsessed with the user and thrives on ambiguity. You love the challenge of building end-to-end features across different systems and have a bias for action in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

If you don't have deep experience across all of these stacks, don't worry! We will work together as a team to expand your skills. We value passionate builders who are strong in one area (like Android, iOS, or Web) and eager to grow into a true full-stack role.

Required Skills & Experiences:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Kotlin, Swift, Java, Objective-C, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Hands-on experience building and shipping applications on Android, iOS, or modern Web platforms.
  • Experience developing and deploying user-facing applications powered by LLMs.
  • A data-driven mindset, with experience using metrics and user logging to inform product decisions.
  • Familiarity with Google-specific tools like Mendel experimentation or RASTA.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $166,000 USD - 244,000 USD + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
