The Role

In this role, you will be tasked with steering complex programs to deliver significant user value and organizational impact. By merging professional project management expertise with a deep commitment to user experience, you will assist the team in charting the future of AI interactions across Google's product portfolio. Your core responsibilities will include establishing program objectives, managing risk mitigation strategies, and partnering with team leadership to foster a durable culture of innovation. 

Success in this position requires seamless collaboration with multidisciplinary, cross-functional, and external teams to ensure goals are achieved on schedule and within budget. Furthermore, the UX Program Manager acts as the central communicator, overseeing project plans and updates for executive leadership, team members, and all relevant stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with UX Leads to stand up new programs of work using program management best practices for communication, stakeholder management, planning, risk mitigation, resource planning and budgeting. 
  • Collaborate with PMs and UX Leads with the project initiation process including creating project briefs so goals, priority, success metrics, and timing are clear from the start.
  • Establish and lead operating processes and tools for effectively managing the team’s organization and streamlining the UX design process.
  • Partner effectively on behalf of the business internally and cross-functionally to drive key strategic processes and initiatives.
  • Create strategic narratives for the business, and communicate strategy with the management team and key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate communication and decision-making with leaders and teams within the organization and across GDM.

About You

In order to set you up for success as a UX Program Manager at DeepMind,  we look for the following skills and experience:

  • BA/BS degree in Business or related field
  • 8+ Years Experience in a program management or agency account management role
  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary UX team, engineering and marketing teams
  • Ability to manage a portfolio or 2+ programs of work containing multiple subprojects and smaller initiatives.  Ability to identify problems and issues across organizations and proactively solve blockers or issues. 
  • Strong understanding of operational excellence and has experience working with legal and finance teams. 
  • Experience working with specialized design disciplines and ability to run design sprints; experience working with fellow UX leaders to plan specialized design sprints.
  • Strong experience working with UXR leaders to plan and execute rolling programs of research. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and credibility.
  • Solid analytical skills and ability to create strategic data-driven recommendations.
  • 2-3 years delivering projects with a generative AI component.
  • PMP certification through PMI
