Quality Manager, UPS

About the Role:    

We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to join our team, specializing in the installation and specification standards of equipment used by major logistics companies such as UPS. The Quality Manager will play a key role in ensuring that all installation projects meet the stringent requirements and specifications set forth by these industry leaders. This position requires a deep understanding of material handling equipment and installation standards specific to UPS. The Quality Manager will be responsible for training and supporting Site Managers, inspecting installation progress onsite, and collaborating with our engineering team to ensure all project drawings adhere to customer specifications.

In this role, you will:   

Oversee the implementation of quality assurance processes across UPS projects, ensuring adherence to customer specifications. Conduct regular site inspections and audits during installation and commissioning phases to ensure compliance with quality standards.

  • Expertise in Specifications:
    • Serve as the in-house expert on UPS equipment and installation standards.
    • Ensure that all installations strictly adhere to client specifications, quality standards, and industry best practices.
  • Site Inspections:
    • Be onsite at various project locations to inspect and verify installation progress, ensuring compliance with design specifications and customer requirements.
    • Conduct regular quality audits and prepare reports to document inspection findings, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Training and Support:
    • Train and mentor Site Managers and installation teams on customer-specific equipment and installation specifications.
    • Provide guidance on best practices to meet quality standards and avoid rework.
    • Mentor site management on the development, upkeep, and completion of punch-list/observations across each project to drive a consistent installation utilizing DCS’s software tracking/documenting system.
  • Collaboration with Engineering:
    • Work closely with the engineering team to review project drawings and ensure they align with customer specifications before and during installation.
    • Identify and communicate and discrepancies between project designs and client standards, ensuring timely resolution. 
    • Work with program engineering managers to share reoccurring challenges on projects to further our customer understanding from the engineering department. 
  • Quality Control:
    • Develop, maintain, and implement quality control processes and inspection procedures to ensure project success.
    • Track project quality metrics and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to project leadership through DCS's tracking/documenting program system. 

We’re Excited About You Because:   

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality role, preferably in the material handling, logistics, or automation industries or 8 years of experience in the site management field with a successful record of accomplishment of project delivery with minimal quality issues.
    • Demonstrated expertise in equipment and installation specifications for UPS.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of material handling systems, including conveyors, sortation equipment, and automated systems.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Communication & Training:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train and guide field teams.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with department stake holders, site managers, engineers, and clients.
  • Certifications:
    • Relevant certifications in quality management (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma, ISO 9001) are a plus.
  • Travel:
    • Ability to travel to project sites as needed to oversee installation progress and conduct inspections.
