The Human Resources Assistant is part of a small, fast-paced Human Resources team that supports over 300 employees nationwide and partners across all corporate operations. This role requires a high degree of business acumen, judgement, and attention to detail. This position is ideal for someone who has a passion for HR and internal customer service, looking to make a direct impact on a company's success. This position will require you to be onsite 3 days a week in Reston, VA.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Supports the HR Coordinator in completing onboarding tasks for new hires, with a focus on benefits enrollment and related documentation.
- Processes benefit life events, enrollments, and other basic benefits requests.
- Assists with preparation and execution of annual Open Enrollment activities.
- Conducts audits of benefits data to ensure accuracy and compliance; escalates issues as needed.
- Supports the offboarding process by coordinating benefits termination and related follow-up.
- Maintains HR and benefits compliance calendars.
- Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by HR Leadership.
- Performs general clerical duties including photocopying, scanning, mailing, and emailing documents.
- Prepares or assists in the preparation of HR-related correspondence and reports.
- Supports facility and office management 3 days a week onsite.
- Provides general administrative support to the HR team.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
- At least 1-2 years' related experience required.
- Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Demonstrated desire to learn and develop technical and professional skills in Human Resources.
- Excellent verbal, written, open communication skills.
- Demonstrated business acumen, and high degree of reasoning ability and judgement in decision making while exercising a high level of discernment and professionalism.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong commitment to meet deadlines and deliver time sensitive tasks efficiently.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
- SHRM-CP credential preferred.
- Experience supporting HR in a government contracting environment
